Is E471 animal or plant-based? It would be very nice if this were specified.
E471 = mono- and diglycerides Is made from fatty acids and glycerine, which are mainly obtained from soybeans.
So the fatty acids in this ice cream are exclusively plant-based and not animal-based?
Good evening Lola100100 Found in the leaflet Additives in foodstuffs Origin of additives from M-Industries - For additives that can be of plant/synthetic or animal origin, Bischofszell Nahrungsmittel AG (BINA), Chocolat Frey, Delica AG, ELSA, Mibelle Group Nutrition (Mifa) and Midor AG each use the plant/synthetic variant - JOWA always uses the plant/synthetic variant of additives. Only the E 1105 (lysozyme) is of animal origin. This is also declared accordingly: Lysozyme (from chicken egg white) - MIFROMA also uses E 1105 (lysozyme) of animal origin Best regardsFrederica
Hello Lola100100, the emulsifier E 471 (mono- and diglycerides of fatty acids) is made from fat building blocks (fatty acids or glycerine). The fat used for its production is usually of vegetable origin (palm kernel oil, rapeseed oil, sunflower oil, soybean oil, etc.). Theoretically, the fat can also be of animal origin (pork and/or beef fat), but this is no longer common. Today it can be assumed that emulsifiers or other fat-based additives are of vegetable origin. The Migros industries Bischofszell Nahrungsmittel AG, Chocolat Frey AG, Delica AG, ELSA, JOWA AG, Mibelle Group Nutrition and Midor AG generally use the vegetable/synthetic variant of the emulsifier E 471. A brochure with detailed information on the subject of additives can be found on our homepage migros.ch under the following link: https://www.migros.ch/de/services/kundendienst/fachstelle-ernaehrung.html.
