Good evening My son has coeliac disease and I am trying to find lentils without traces of gluten. Do you have any in your range? And for what reason can lentils contain traces of gluten? Thank you very much. best regards
Hello ranftc, our lentils do not contain any gluten-containing ingredients. However, as the manufacturer has informed us, lentils may be contaminated with wheat (already in the field). Incoming goods are therefore checked. If an average sample exceeds the value of 200mg gluten per kilogram, the goods are rejected. For this reason, our lentils always contain less than 200mg gluten per kilogram on average, which is why the manufacturer has previously dispensed with the "May contain gluten" label. However, the lentils cannot be described as gluten-free, as the specifications for this are 10 times stricter (less than 20mg gluten per kilogram). However, it has been found in the past that, despite all precautionary measures, individual grains of wheat or other cereals may be present in a pack. Due to the possibility of contamination, it has been decided to include a trace label (contains gluten) on the packaging. If you are a coeliac and want to be absolutely sure, it is best to visually check the contents of the pack for cereal grains and wash the lentils under running water to remove any dust (including any traces of gluten). Unfortunately, we do not stock any lentils without traces in our range. Best regards, your M-Infoline team

Hello The origin of the lentils is USA, purchased 03.2020. Can I assume that they are genetically manipulated and treated with glyphosphate?
Hello Anden, thank you for your inquiry. Migros does not sell any genetically modified products. Glyphosate may be present in traces. However, we have legal limits for this, which we adhere to. If an exceedance is detected, the product may not be sold. Best regards, your M-Infoline team

Hello We have heard from the media that the herbicide glyphosate may be carcinogenic. Glyphosate was detected in Migros Classic lentils in high doses (health tip June 2012). Should we throw the lentils away or do you think they are safe to consume? I also don't understand the logo "from us from here". My lentil pack L0000000253 has a shelf life of at least 30.09.2016 and comes from Canada.
Hello Banisher Thank you for your inquiry The maximum residue levels for glyphosate in foodstuffs in Switzerland are regulated by the Ordinance on Contaminants and Ingredients (FIV) in conjunction with EU Regulation 396/2005. The Federal Office for Agriculture (FOAG) and the Federal Food Safety and Veterinary Office (FSVO) consider residues of glyphosate from use as a plant protection product to pose no health risk to the population based on the data currently available and the numerous assessments by international and national expert committees. Glyphosate does not accumulate in the body. It is excreted very quickly and efficiently, mainly via the urine. We test each of our incoming lentil products for glyphosate. If the specified value is exceeded, the product is rejected and is not sold. This means that this product is safe to consume. We hope that this information will help you and send you our warmest regards from the M-Infoline team.

Hello
Do you have to wash lentils that come out of the bag before cooking? If so, what is the best way to do this?
Guest
I would put them on the balcony and spray each one with the garden hose...........
But hello, really now?
Guest
Yes, really now!
The ones from Alnatura, for example, say that you should wash them. There are various forums on the Internet where it says you should wash lentils before cooking them. And the Migros quinoa packaging also says to wash the stuff first.
Guest
Of course you wash lentils and quinoa!!!
But then to ask how............!
Dear guest
Thank you for your inquiry.
The lenses should ideally be washed briefly in a sieve, as it is unfortunately always possible that small foreign bodies are still in the lenses. This is very easy and quick to do.
If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact us!

why are these lentils bsw beans etc sold so expensively than
at the turkish or inder ? I recently bought a 2 kilo pack for just 2.90 or 1 kilo for 1.80
Guest
quite simply, Switzerland is a high-price island and therefore rip-offs are the order of the day
Dear guest
Thank you for your inquiry.
Our producers have to meet high standards, which most smaller stores do not require. If the supplier does not meet the requirements (certificates), he is not allowed to deliver the goods to Migros despite lower prices.
This enables us to guarantee a high standard for our customers. Unfortunately, this sometimes has an impact on the price.
We hope you can understand this.

It's a real shame that Migipedia never says how heavy the packs are. Is there 0.5 KG in here? Or how much? That would be important...
Guest
If you click on the "Product information" tab, you can see how heavy the pack is.
So something so stupid! Sorry, I was looking for it and simply overlooked it! :-)
Hello zoetorinesi
Thank you for your suggestion regarding the weight information on Migipedia.
Basically, as Mathomas has already mentioned, you can find the information under the product information tab. In some cases, the information may not be displayed correctly. If you notice this, we would be very grateful if you could let us know so that we can correct it.
We hope you find this information useful and wish you a sunny spring evening.
