Why do these peas have 90kcal per 100g and the Farmers Best frozen garden peas 75kcal per 100g?

4 years ago

Good morning Michi2000↵↵...Farmer's Best extra fine; 59kcal, M-Budget; 77kcal. But they are also frozen products like the garden peas. They still have to be prepared. The canned ones are ready to eat. ↵↵Don't think that the ~250 pea varieties are calorie-equivalent 🤷🏻‍♀️↵↵Best regards↵ Frederica

Hi Michi2000, there are x different types of peas, which have different nutritional values. In addition, some peas are ready to eat, others are only briefly blanched. This explains why frozen peas and canned peas do not have the same energy content. Best regards, your M-Infoline team

Can you eat the peas straight away without heating them first? (just drain them first)

6 years ago

Hello xy, thank you for your inquiry. The peas can be eaten straight from the can, it is not necessary to heat them. Canned food can generally be eaten without prior heating. Kind regards, your M-Infoline team

You have now pictured the can with the CH flag here, but only the small cans with the CH flag are available in the store. The large cans are not. Question; if it says elaboré somewhere... it doesn't mean that's where the peas come from. It just means that something else has been done. Why don't you write where the peas come from?
Your promises should also make this a little more transparent.
Thank you

Dear guest
Thank you for your comment. Due to the shortage of peas (bad weather in summer 2013), not all M-Classic peas are currently marked with the CH cross. As soon as possible, we will return to exclusively CH products.
Regarding the origin: The country of production must be declared on all products in Switzerland. When the country of production or the country of origin of an individual raw material must also be declared is precisely regulated by law:
1. the country of production of raw materials in foodstuffs must be declared in the list of ingredients of the foodstuff if:
(a) the proportion of the raw material in the finished product is more than 50 percent by mass;
b) the country of production of the raw material does not correspond to the country of production indicated for the foodstuff; and
c) the product name or other labeling of the food contains an indication that the raw material originates from the country indicated as the country of production of the food.
An additional declaration of the origin of a raw material is only necessary if all three points apply. In the present case, the country of origin of the raw material and the country of production is Switzerland/Lichtenstein. Letter b is therefore not fulfilled and the origin does not have to be additionally declared.
You can therefore assume that if no country of origin of the raw material is stated in addition to the country of production of the foodstuff, the country of origin of the raw material corresponds to the stated country of production of the foodstuff.
We hope that this information will help you and wish you all the best from the M-Infoline team.
