Is there effectively no dried bean producer between Switzerland and China? I would have loved to eat dried beans again, but the idea that they come from China and have been grown and processed in who knows how makes me refrain from doing so, unfortunately.
There are organic products from Switzerland or in Migros Aare in the FG department from the region, but they cost more.
Hello Chur69, thank you for your contribution. There is a company in Switzerland that specializes in drying green beans and produces the quantity needed to supply all Migros stores. However, this company does not supply the quantity for the whole year, so Swiss dried beans are only available in the fall. During the rest of the year, Migros sources the dried beans from China. The Chinese beans are transported by ship and then by truck. We have the opportunity to purchase very good quality dried beans in China and therefore offer our customers the best value for money for this product too. Since March 2021, the M-Check label for responsible cultivation has been displayed on the packaging. You can find more information about M-Check here. Best regards, your M-Infoline team

Good evening A quick question about the dried beans: How can it be that a product from China gets 5 stars in M-Check CO2?🤔After all, it was transported halfway around the world... Kind regards
Hello Pirana_2, thank you for your question. Transportation plays a subordinate role in carbon footprints, unless the product is flown. The decisive factor is agricultural production; in the case of animal products, for example, husbandry and feeding, as well as fertilization and the use of pesticides are also taken into account. These production methods may be the same abroad as in Switzerland, so the carbon footprint does not change much. Kind regards, your M-Infoline team

I noticed that the packaging had been changed, but above all I was shocked by the amount of sugar! 25gr for 100gr of beans, whereas the old version was 13gr! That's almost 2x as much sugar. These are vegetables, so it should be healthy... why double it?
Hello Shiva387, thank you for your comment. We're sorry you were disappointed by the amount of sugar in dried beans. Dried beans are a natural product, but their nutritional value may vary depending on the time of harvest, the degree of ripeness and the nature of the soil. Dried beans have no added sugar. We have passed on your message to our supplier, who will be looking into the matter closely because of the significant differences you have pointed out. The dried beans will be subjected to a more precise analysis, although this clarification may take up to 5 weeks. With best regards, your M-Infoline team

Do the nutritional values refer to the dried version?
Hello indios, the nutritional information always refers to the product as it is (e.g. rice, pasta, dried beans etc. in its raw state), unless something else is mentioned (e.g. "100ml prepared contains..."). Best regards, your M-Infoline team

I still have dried beans from 2018. can I still use them as they are dried?
Hello indios, the dried beans have a best-before date, which means that they are still edible after the expiration date without any risk to health. However, a reduction in quality must be expected over time. Unfortunately, we cannot help you decide how long you want/can still consume the dried beans after the expiry date; we can only guarantee optimum quality until the end of the shelf life. Dear Migros This statement that there are no dried beans in Switzerland and that they are therefore imported from China is incorrect. Your major competitor has been offering them for some time. And they are also a cheaper option for customers than organic dried beans. And their taste can be recommended.
Hello Huki, thank you for your comment. We stock Swiss organic dried beans seasonally in the fall and winter. We had big problems because there are very few Swiss dried bean producers. In addition, Migros has high microbiological requirements, which many smaller companies were unable to meet. As our Swiss dried beans are also certified organic, the selling prices are much higher than for conventional dried beans from China. Best regards, your M-Infoline team

how many grams of dried beans are fresh beans? what is the conversion factor?
Hello Kathrin Thank you very much for your contribution. We are very pleased that you are interested in our range. The factor is between nine and ten. This means that you need around 1 kilogram of beans for 100 grams of dried beans. We hope that our answer clarifies things for you and wish you a pleasant evening. See you soon in your Migros! Best wishes from the M-Infoline team

Dear Migros buyers. I find it shameful that you import dried beans from CHINA. I hope you have cooked and eaten the beans yourself, because they have the aroma of hay and not of dried beans, and the taste of jute sacks clings to the product. We were very disappointed with this product. It spoiled our Christmas dinner in 2014. NB: I found NO dried beans from Switzerland in your range (MG Ostschweiz).
Hello Urmel9 Thank you for your contribution. It's great that you are one of our valued customers. There is no company in Switzerland that specializes in dehydrating green beans and could produce the quantity needed to supply all Migros stores. Migros therefore sources the dried beans from China. The Chinese beans are transported by ship and then by truck. We are able to purchase dried beans of very good quality in China and can therefore offer our customers good value for money for this product too. An alternative would be to purchase dried beans from Germany. However, this would make the product much more expensive than the Chinese product, which is why we source the goods from overseas. At the moment, it is also not possible for us to source dried beans from Switzerland due to various quality defects. We hope you understand our decision and look forward to welcoming you back soon. Kind regards from the M-Infoline team

Zwicky linseed from China? Swiss cross and Swiss goods?
Hello relativecritical
Thank you for your contribution. Migros does not stock Zwicky linseed. We are therefore unable to comment on this.
We hope for your understanding and wish you a nice day.
