Difference to plaster spray? Dear Migros, can you explain the difference between Brennsprit and Putzsprit? None of the bottles show the percentage of alcohol, and the Putzsprit is not insignificantly more expensive. Is it more concentrated than distilled spirits, or what else is the reason for the price difference? And it would be nice to see the alcohol content on both. In France, for example, it is written on the bottles.

Hello remoapeter, thank you for the question. The M-Classic Brennsprit is suitable as a smokeless and odorless fuel. It contains denaturants. The M-Plus Putzsprit is designed for cleaning. It can be used concentrated or diluted and requires no further additives. The M-Plus products combine cleaning power and high biodegradability. The nature-based ingredients used guarantee the best performance with minimal environmental impact. The products therefore contain different formulations. We were happy to provide the specialist department with input regarding the alcohol content. Best regards, your M-Infoline team

Thank you very much

Hi Amaryllis22, dilute the fire spirit in water at a ratio of 10 to 1 (water/spirit) and add a drop of dishwashing detergent. By doing this, you can use the product to clean glass or tiles. It dissolves grease and gives a better shine. Should the stains be more stubborn, we recommend using a higher dosage. Remember, however, that the product is not suitable for wood or plastic. Hello, can I use this product to disinfect my hands? Thank you.

Hello Isabe, thank you for your inquiry about our M-Classic methylated spirits. Ethanol has a bactericidal and virucidal effect from a concentration of 70%. Methylated spirits contain around 90% ethanol. We recommend using all chemical products in the Migros range only for their intended purpose. If you would like to make your own disinfectant, please contact your pharmacy for advice. Sincerely, your M-Infoline team

Hello, which denaturant ("denaturant") is used in M-Classic Brennsprit? This is not declared on the packaging. If you do not know the answer, could you send me a link to the product's safety data sheet? Thank you very much and best regards

Hello MarsTheChemist, thank you for your question. Unfortunately, it is not entirely clear to us exactly what information you are looking for. The methylated spirits are denatured with MEK (Methyl Ethyl Ketone), Butanone. If this is not the information you need, we recommend that you contact us directly via the contact form https://www.migros.ch/de/services/kundendienst/infoline.html. Best regards, your M-Infoline team

Can I also order methylated spirits in larger containers? 20 liters of Bisons would be ideal for my needs. I need it as a disinfectant for my pub brewery.

Why is my question not being answered?

Hello, I would like to know which denaturant is used in Migros Brennsprit and whether it evaporates or forms residues during cleaning. thank you.

The warnings are quite stark: P280 Wear protective gloves / protective clothing / eye protection / face protection. P303_361_353 IF ON SKIN (or hair): Take off immediately all contaminated clothing. Wash skin with water/shower. Why is this stuff so dangerous? I used methylated spirits as a cleaning agent for years and never had any problems with it. I came across the warnings by chance and was shocked. What can happen? Are there any other risks apart from the easy flammability?

Hello Jeanneknopf, thank you for your question. We can assure you that we have not made any adjustments to our M-Classic methylated spirits - however, there has been a change in the law. We have therefore redeclared our methylated spirits as a precaution. Best regards, your M-Infoline team

Dear M-Infoline team Thank you very much for your comment. I don't want to be rude. But the statement does not answer my questions. What can happen if fuel splashes get onto clothing or skin? Are there any other risks apart from the easy flammability? Best regards

Halle Jeanneknopf, you are by no means being rude and we understand that such comments can cause uncertainty. We have consulted the specialist department again. The dangers of methylated spirits are that they are highly flammable and can irritate the eyes. It can also have an irritating effect on the skin or other mucous membranes and cause redness. If fuel splashes get onto clothing or skin, it is advisable to remove the clothing immediately and wash/shower the skin with water. However, especially if it is only a splash and the skin contact is not prolonged, no problems should occur with healthy skin. In general, we recommend seeking medical advice if problems persist or occur repeatedly. We hope that this information will help to clarify the new instructions. Best regards, your M-Infoline team
