Hello, does this product contain heavy metals (lead, mercury)? Do you carry out regular analyses to determine this? Do you recommend limiting consumption of this product (e.g. 1 can per week)?
Hello Pierre10, thank you for your question. Migros requires its suppliers to comply with legal requirements. In addition, we and our suppliers check our assortment on a sampling and risk basis to ensure compliance with the guidelines and guarantee product quality. We also carry out on-site checks at our suppliers and producers. If deviations are found, measures are of course agreed with the suppliers.
From a nutritional point of view, we recommend eating one to two portions of fish (80 to 150 grams each) a week, including 70 grams of oily sea fish such as salmon, tuna, mackerel or herring. By eating one to two portions of fish a week, the health benefits outweigh the negative effects of possible contamination by mercury and other harmful substances. The FOAG (Federal Office for Food Safety and Veterinary Affairs) also recommends avoiding or limiting the following fish species during pregnancy and breastfeeding:
- Avoid marlin, swordfish, shark, Baltic salmon and Baltic herring.
- Do not eat fresh tuna or foreign pike more than once a week.

What is Migros' position on the current reports that the MSC and a dolphin-safe catch is nothing more than fraud and money-making?
Hello Aaron_2, thank you for your message. We are pleased that more and more customers are engaging with and critically questioning the issue of sustainable fish. Migros is committed to taking care of our planet and offering fish and seafood from sustainable sources. Among other things, we rely on the MSC label. With MSC, not only are the fish stocks of the fish caught used responsibly, but care is also taken to ensure that the ecosystem is only minimally impacted. Independent control organizations monitor and certify compliance with the specifications along the entire value chain. Only 15% of fish and seafood caught worldwide is certified in accordance with MSC standards. For Migros, MSC is therefore a step in the right direction. MSC is also still the strictest standard in the world for sustainable wild catches. However, we believe that there are still gaps in the standard and that it needs to be continuously developed and improved. That is why we are actively involved in the MSC and propose measures for improvement. In 2008, Migros was one of the first companies to join the WWF Seafood Group, whose members are committed to switching to sustainable fish. Today, a large proportion of all fish and seafood sold by Migros comes from sustainable sources. We also rely on trustworthy labels (MSC, ASC and Migros Bio), which currently have the strictest requirements. Migros is also a pioneer in converting its entire range of own-brand pink tuna to sustainable pole-and-line fishing. The WWF audits Migros' entire range every year. If new stocks are threatened by overfishing, they are delisted or switched to a different origin. In addition, independent inspection bodies check Migros organic, MSC and ASC products annually. Good day. First of all, why do you stock this product in the "voi cube" and not white thon? Then the other question: why do you still have this product (and others (not thon)) in your range at all? Last spring during the lockdown and the hamster purchases, I only wanted to buy one can of thon, and unfortunately almost everything was empty. And this particular product was the only one that was full everywhere on the shelves under the product "tuna". Unfortunately, salt water (including this product) makes me sick, so I couldn't buy a can. But at the end of the day, it doesn't do you any good to have products on the shelves that aren't even bought in a "pandemic". Regards
Hello Dome1989, thank you for your message about canned tuna. The M-Classic tuna products in oil and water are very popular with our customers. The products have different stock ranges in the central warehouse and in the stores. At the time last year, the stock range of tuna in water was higher than that of tuna in oil. In principle, the stores offer the products that our customers buy the most. However, space is limited, so we cannot offer the entire range in all sales outlets - we ask for your understanding. If you let us know which Voi-Cube is affected, we will be happy to pass on your feedback. We will of course take your input on board so that we can make adjustments if necessary. Best regards, your M-Infoline team

Hello, Are the fish in the "M-Classic" tuna boxes really line-caught? If so, how can you prove it?
Hello Mat, Thank you very much for your interest. Most of our "individually line-caught" tuna products are also certified according to the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) guidelines(www.msc.org). The MSC verifies both that the fishing method used is sustainable and that the MSC goods have been caught using the method indicated. For products that are not MSC-certified, we have sent independent inspectors on site to check fishing methods and organize the delivery chain so that no mixing with other goods can occur. In this video, you can see how the fish are caught: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UDyZR4YZh_w Best regards, your M-Infoline team
