Chewing gum consistency
Hello. Has the recipe for the Spearmint and Menthol chewing gums been changed? We have noticed among colleagues that the chewing gums liquefy in the mouth and fall apart. This is the case with several batches and with both flavors.
Hello sommerfreude, thank you for your message. We would like to follow up on your comment. Please let us know the best-before date and the batch or lot number of the product in question. You will generally find the batch or lot number next to the best-before date. It usually starts with the letter L or a mixture of letters and numbers. We look forward to your feedback! Best regards, your M-Infoline team
I refill the chewing gum in an aluminum can and unfortunately no longer have a pack. I will contact you again if the next product I buy has the same properties.
Hi sommerfreude, thank you very much for your quick response. It doesn't matter that the data is no longer available. We take your description of the problems with the chewing gum - that it disintegrates in the mouth and quickly loses its taste - seriously. That's why we still sought an exchange with the specialist department 😊.
Due to a raw material no longer being available, we had to adjust the recipe, which led to the changes you described. Our team is working hard to optimize the recipe in order to restore the usual quality and taste. We are keeping our fingers crossed that optimization measures will soon be possible!Best regards, your M-Infoline team

Hello Migros Both chewing gum spearmint and the normal ones are now available at Coop for 1.85... will Migros lower the prices for both items?
Hello Coacoa200, thank you for your question. We have recently reduced the prices of all four varieties of M-Budget chewing gum (Spearmint, Peppermint, Eucamenthol and Exotic Fruits) in 2 x 36 g packs to CHF 0.85. This means that we are offering an adequate price-performance ratio under M-Budget. This means that at CHF 1.18 / 100 g we offer an adequate price-performance ratio under M-Budget. Best regards, your M-Infoline team
It's funny that it's gone in the meantime and the price has been reduced by 1 franc.
Hello Dragonball, Like every retailer, we are constantly reviewing our product range and adapting it to the ever-changing needs of our customers. With the aim of constantly optimizing the price-performance ratio on all items, we are in the process of continuously reviewing all product groups and adjusting them if necessary. With the change in the chewing gum range, the prices of M-Budget chewing gum have been reduced. Best regards, your M-Infoline team

Hello It's been a year since someone here asked when titanium oxide disappeared from M-Budget chewing gum. Since then it has been quiet and here on the app E171 is still an ingredient. But this substance only makes it whiter or shinier. I don't need that. The chewing gum tastes the same! :-)
Hello _Roli_, thank you for your message. Titanium dioxide has been comprehensively evaluated by the European authorities and no evidence of a health risk to consumers was found. Titanium dioxide serves as a whitening colorant and thus ensures the consistently white surface of the dragées. However, we are working hard to develop alternative formulations for all our chewing gums without titanium dioxide. We have already succeeded with the Skai line. We have already converted various Skai products. We are following the discussion about the use of titanium dioxide closely and are taking all measures to ensure health protection at all times. Best regards, your M-Infoline team
Thank you for the information, if titanium oxide is safe. Then why do I find articles like this one? I would like an answer to that! Because a country would never ban a substance for which there is not at least a reasonable suspicion. Below is a report from the reputable Deutsche Welle DW: France bans controversial additive In France, however, titanium dioxide may no longer be used in food from 2020. The Ministry of the Environment and Economy has issued a corresponding ban. It classifies the white pigment as hazardous to health, as titanium dioxide is potentially carcinogenic. In 2017, French scientists proved in rats that regular oral intake of E171 damages the immune system and causes intestinal inflammation. The experiments showed that titanium dioxide can break through the intestinal barrier and thus enter the bloodstream as nanoparticles. It is still unclear whether titanium dioxide can also cross the blood-brain barrier.
Hello _Roli_, the titanium dioxide we use in chewing gum products does not meet the nano definition, where particle sizes of significantly less than 100 nanometers are used. Nano titanium dioxide would also be unsuitable as a food colorant, as the raw material is colorless at a nanoparticle size and no longer has any whitening power as a food colorant. Our own measurements of chewing gum containing titanium dioxide have proven the absence of nanoparticles in our products. Best regards, your M-Infoline team

Hello Migros You write: "We have invested a lot of time in revising this popular variety and have tried to bring additional freshness to the product while retaining the basic flavor." WHY are you revising a POPULAR product? Nobody asked for more freshness, 5 stars before the change says "Perfect". For more freshness there are the menthol or other chewing gums. This is incomprehensible and in my eyes a gross mistake. Fortunately, Migros is an agile company and dares to admit a slip-up and reverse a mistake. Don't they? ;) Just do it.
Hello Spearmint4ever, thank you for your feedback, which we have passed on to the relevant specialist department. We are sorry that you are not happy with the new recipe. As a dynamic company, we are constantly trying to adapt our range to the spirit of the times and current customer requirements. We are aware that not everyone will necessarily like the changed flavour profile better and we are very happy to take your input on board. We incorporate the feedback from our customers into our recipe adjustments and are therefore grateful to you for letting us know. We hope your experience with us and our products will be positive in the future. Best regards, your M-Infoline team

I would like to know more details about the survey that is said to have led to the change: 1. is the result the result of a blind test? 2. who was the test group (selection and number)? 3. was it a comparison with other chewing gums on the market (Kassensturz test with 120 students on 21.5.2019?) 4. was the old formula sent into the race against the new formula internally at Migros? (It is inconceivable that the new chewing gum should have performed better than the old one if you compare the new and old ratings) 5. where can you see the test results? "Never change a winning team" - somehow also applies to this product and its fans...
Hello Spearmint4ever, thank you for your detailed interest in the development processes for the new recipe of M-Budget Spearmint chewing gum. We cannot publish the test results for confidentiality reasons and therefore ask for your understanding, but we can tell you that we did indeed survey a large panel (>100 people). In blind tastings, we compared both products from third-party suppliers/brands and the previous M-Budget Spearmint recipe. The clear result then led us to the decision to launch the new recipe - in the knowledge that this may mean a change for people who were used to the previous recipe. We hope that we can still count you among our customers. Best regards, your M-Infoline team

New recipe, still questionable additives? Are you planning to implement the change at Skai at M-Budget too or are health aspects being ignored here? https://www.srf.ch/news/schweiz/titandioxid-e171-migros-verbannt-umstrittenen-zusatzstoff-aus-kaugummis
Hello migros users, we are constantly striving to make improvements and adapt the 4 formulations to the needs of our customers as far as possible. When switching to titanium dioxide-free chewing gum, Skai chewing gum was considered first. We are also focusing on M-Budget chewing gums, but we would ask you to be patient. From a technological point of view, replacing titanium dioxide is unfortunately not as easy as the media sometimes make it out to be. As soon as we have a satisfactory solution from our development department, we will be happy to implement it. Best regards, your M-Infoline team

So when did your survey take place?
How long does it take you to answer a question?
Hello migroszaeme_123, we are still clarifying your question regarding the survey and are waiting to hear back from the specialist department. We will get back to you as soon as we know more. Best regards, your M-Infoline team
Hi migroszaeme_123, the survey was conducted in summer 2019. Best regards, your M-Infoline team

The new recipe is very saucy. Could you please make it according to the old recipe again. And please don't reply like that again: "Hello, we're sorry that you don't like the new recipe. In a consumer popularity survey, the "new" chewing gums clearly won against the previous recipe, which is why we have decided to introduce the improved recipe. Best regards, your M-Infoline team`` Really easy to change please!!!
waiting for an answer
Hello migroszaeme_123, as we have already informed you, a change is currently not planned. It has not escaped our notice that you are a fan of the old recipe. That's why you don't need to text us with any more questions. Thank you for your understanding and best regards, your M-Infoline team

Hello migroszaeme_123, thank you very much for your message about our M-Budget chewing gums. What a shame that you don't like the new recipe. Can unopened packs of the "improved recipe" be returned to Migros for a refund?
Hello Ages_, thank you for your question. We are sorry that you are not satisfied with the revised recipe. Unfortunately, it is not possible to return the chewing gum. Once food has left our stores, it may not be returned for sale. The reason for this is product safety, which we can no longer guarantee once the product has left the supermarket. Best regards, your M-Infoline team

Dear M-Infoline The Swiss Code of Obligations also applies to foodstuffs. For defective foodstuffs such as these chewing gums with an "improved recipe", you must pay compensation in accordance with Art. 197. Whether you can sell the chewing gum again afterwards is your problem. If you want to sell chewing gum with a greatly reduced shelf life, you can do so under a different name and new packaging without risking deceiving us customers. Where do I apply for compensation for these chewing gums?
Hello Ages_, contact your store's customer service department. They will decide on a replacement. If you are not happy with this, please contact migros@m-infoline.ch by email. Best regards, your M-Infoline team
