Hello, we have read that processed cheese can be eaten during pregnancy. What we don't know is whether it can only be eaten melted, i.e. heated. This product is also known as processed cheese, but is certainly not heated before eating. Here are the most important points in brief: To protect yourself from a listeria infection, you should avoid all soft and semi-hard cheeses made from raw and pasteurized milk during pregnancy. Hard cheese and extra-hard cheese, whether made from raw or pasteurized milk, can be eaten without hesitation, but the rind should be removed before consumption. Mozzarella and cream cheese made from pasteurized milk as well as processed cheese are also safe. The same applies to fondue and other melted or heated cheeses (raclette, cheese used for gratinating, etc.). It should also be noted that raw meat (e.g. tartare), raw fish (e.g. sushi) and smoked fish (e.g. salmon) as well as ready-to-eat (i.e. cut, washed) salads can also be carriers of listeria.
