Can this margarine be used for frying or is it a health risk?
Hello tstm0h, this margarine can also be used for hot cooking, i.e. for baking, steaming or short frying. For hot cooking, i.e. for searing or long frying at high temperatures, it is better to use a more heat-stable product such as frying butter or HOLL rapeseed oil. Best regards, your M-Infoline team

The information still says "Vegetable oils and fats", even though oils and fats have had to be declared individually since 2016. This still seems to be the case for many other products. How long will it take Migros to change this?
Hello ivan92 The list of ingredients on the product has long been updated, but the information on Migipedia has not yet been updated or is not currently displayed. According to the list of ingredients on the packaging, the product contains palm oil, rapeseed oil and sunflower oil. Best regards from your M-Infoline team

Hello, does this margarine contain palm oil/fat? What kind of vegetable fats does it contain? Thank you very much for your answer :)
Hello Ricef0rlife Thank you for your inquiry. M-Budget margarine contains rapeseed, sunflower and palm oil (from sustainable cultivation RSPO). If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact us! Greetings from the M-Infoline team

how much trans fatty acid does it contain ? how much trans fatty acid does m-classic butter contain (for comparison) ?
Hello Dokter_Hund Trans fatty acids are formed during the (partial) hardening of fats and oils. As can be seen from the list of ingredients, M-Budget margarine does not contain any hydrogenated fats and therefore no trans fatty acids. Where technologically feasible, Migros has been avoiding hydrogenated fats and oils altogether for several years now. Butter, on the other hand, naturally contains around 3 to 4 percent trans fatty acids, albeit a different type than those produced during the industrial hardening of fats and oils. Best wishes from your M-Infoline team

Why is margarine classified as a dairy product :0 ?
Have a nice afternoon, Emira Mehmeti.

Vinegar, oils, fats and co. (without butter and lard)...
Emira.

But in the store, margarine is also in the dairy products section (butter). Why do you want it somewhere else here on Migipedia?
Butter, margarine and mixed spreadable fats belong in the same group!

At the end of the day, it's a matter of opinion...

Ultimately, it makes sense to find margarine on Migipedia in the same place where it is listed: under dairy products.
Guest
Of course, it should be "Laden", not "Lagen".
Hello Emira
We regard margarine as a spread, which is why it is placed on the shelf next to butter. For this reason, we consider margarine to be a dairy product.
We hope this is understandable and wish you a pleasant afternoon.

Dear Migros
What does "vegetable fats" mean? Rapeseed oil and others, or is palm oil used here?
Hi guest
Thank you for your inquiry.
The M-Budget margarine contains a mixture of palm, rapeseed and sunflower oil. Palm oil is a solid fat. Without palm oil, the margarine would be liquid.
We hope this helps you and wish you a good day.
See you soon! your M-Infoline team
Margarine is not a new invention - but the use of palm oil is. You say that oil is necessary so that margarine is not liquid. What was used to make margarine 50 years ago, when palm oil was not yet known? Margarine wasn't liquid back then either.
Hello Neugastin, thank you for your message. At the very beginning of margarine production (1870 - 1900), mainly animal fats were used. From 1900 onwards, margarines could also be made with vegetable fats. Palm oil, palm kernel oil and coconut fat were mainly used for this purpose. A few other exotic fats were also used, but these did not catch on due to a lack of availability. From the 1960s onwards, partially hydrogenated vegetable oils were used, which partially replaced palm oil in margarines. Due to the associated problems, such as the formation of trans fatty acids, recipes were switched back to palm oil from the late 1980s. Best regards, your M-Infoline team
