How many slices are in a pack?
Dear guest
Thank you for your interest.
An M-Budget ham hock pack always contains at least 200 grams of ham. As the size of the slices can vary, there are between 8 and 10 slices in each pack.

I don't want to know how the pig from which this ham comes was kept. Sorry, but cheap meat production is a no-go.

The producer probably receives an M-budget wage even though he complies with all animal welfare and other guidelines and gives the animals high-quality feed, because there is no M-budget label for producers
Hello Hen
Thank you for your contribution.
Migros has been committed to animal welfare as far as possible for years.
Our TerraSuisse label, for example, guarantees that the animals live in particularly animal-friendly stables and have regular access to the outdoors. This is achieved through the programs BTS, particularly animal-friendly housing systems, and RAUS, regular outdoor exercise. They have fresh air, daylight and always clean bedding. You can find more detailed guidelines at www.ipsuisse.ch.
We have compliance with these guidelines regularly checked by accredited inspection bodies under the coordination of Agrosolution AG. Despite these existing measures, we are constantly reviewing and improving the conditions under which animals are kept.
However, we can hardly exert any influence on the legal husbandry regulations. However, we are convinced that these are drawn up by experts in animal husbandry and therefore take the needs of the animals into account as far as possible.
Organic meat is subject to roughly the same guidelines as TerraSuisse; however, animals of the cattle species may still be kept in tie stalls (with transitional periods). You can find the guidelines at www.bio-suisse.ch
The Swiss Meat Quality Management guidelines apply to other meat from Switzerland. These do not, for example, explicitly require animals to be kept outdoors. You can find the guidelines at www.qm-schweizerfleisch.ch
We hope this information has been helpful and wish you a pleasant weekend. Your M-Infoline team

Thank you for your comments. I am well aware of the individual labels. That's why we only eat organic or Terra Suisse meat when we eat meat. I'd rather go without meat than eat a pig that was a poor barn pig. When I consider that a "normally" kept sow weighing 110 to 160 kg is only allowed a total area of 1.65 m2 according to animal welfare regulations, I lose my appetite. I can't imagine that a budget sow has more space available than required by law. They have to save money somewhere in order to produce pork so cheaply. And this cost-cutting mania that the Swiss have become addicted to is always at the expense of the animal.
Oh dear, I forgot to log in: The post above is mine.
But maybe it just makes sense to process the leftovers from the "nice" ham so that even less well-off families can afford the ham on their pizza ???? Unfortunately, I don't have the budget to always buy organic and terra----whatever. Do I have to have a guilty conscience now?
