Ok, the price is down but still ~20% higher than usual. Will it stay that way or will there be the M-Budget variant for 3.60 again? After all, it's a staple food and I don't buy M-Budget for fun ;-)

No... at Aldi and Lidl they cost exactly the same as at Migros

Hello Checker23, prices have been reduced again compared to December. However, due to the sharp rise in production costs (feed, energy) and a lack of availability due to bird flu, prices are still above the usual level. Best regards, your M-Infoline team

Over 100% markup - how about an explanation from Migros?

Hello indios, the federal government has not increased the import quotas for eggs for 2022 in the short term. A decision is required from the Federal Office for Agriculture (FOAG) to increase the import quotas. In most cases, this decision is only made if there is a consensus in the industry. However, this does not currently exist. The Gallo Suisse association in particular has resisted further import quotas. Migros cannot influence this decision.

Despite the fact that the import quota has not been increased, eggs may still be imported. However, customs duties must be paid on all eggs that enter Switzerland outside the quota. The consequence of this is that we have a massive price mark-up on imported eggs and their price is higher than that of Swiss eggs. We expect the situation to improve from January 1, 2023, when there will be new import quotas again and we will be able to reverse all measures. Best regards, your M-Infoline team

How to justify a price doubling in a few months??? !!! A scandal 😡😡😡

Hello EmilieM, we understand your surprise at the price increase. The Confederation has not increased the egg import quotas for the year 2022 in the short term. Even though the import quotas have not been increased, egg imports are still permitted. However, customs duties must be paid for all eggs imported outside the quota. As a result, we have a considerable price premium on imported eggs, and their price therefore exceeds that of Swiss eggs. Despite our best efforts, it will not be possible to cover all demand with Swiss eggs. We will therefore continue to sell imported eggs. Sincerely, your M-Infoline team

Why is the packaging made of plastic? The same product in coop, comes in cardboard. The price is the same in coop (3.30 chf). I don't want to shop at coop, but I find it really difficult to get a large amount of plastic just by buying these eggs. Please consider this and change the packaging, especially with the environment in mind

Hello Migroscustomer123, we are currently exploring new packaging options. The implementation is still open. Best regards, your M-Infoline team

Hello BaerNard, thank you for your follow-up. We were happy to ask our specialist department about the current status. Those responsible have informed us that no new packaging is currently planned at M-Budget. This is because the containers are made of recycled plastic (RPET). Kind regards, your M-Infoline team

I am always critical of eggs from abroad in terms of animal welfare. What is the standard for the hens of this product?

If the packaging says imported free-range eggs, you have to trust Migros - you can't get any better than free-range.

Hello Killergorilla, thank you for your inquiry about the M-Budget free-range eggs. The Migros imported eggs all come from KAT-certified barn or free-range farms. KAT is a transnational control system for eggs from alternative animal husbandry. Since 2003, eggs from KAT farms have carried a number indicating the type of farming, country of origin, producer and barn. You can find more information at www.was-steht-auf-dem-ei.de. This certification ensures, among other things, that no battery-farmed eggs reach the Migros shelves, even in the case of foreign eggs. Kind regards, your M-Infoline team

Since when are the eggs free range?

Hello thesandro, thank you for your inquiry. We are convinced that free-range is the best type of farming for laying hens in terms of animal welfare. In addition, according to surveys, consumers place particularly high value on animal welfare when it comes to eggs. For this reason, we have decided to remove barn eggs from our range in all stores by the end of 2020 and only offer eggs from laying hens that are allowed to go out to pasture. Best regards, your M-Infoline team
