I would really like to know what you can expect from dates... the fact that I occasionally find a louse in a salad, for example, is nothing abnormal for me... But is it also normal to find beetles and maggots and their excrement (?) in (pitted) dates? Personally, I never eat a date without first looking inside. I've had too many nasty surprises for that. Just recently I bought a pitted M-Budget date pack again (after a long time, because I prefer not to, due to the bugs). And as always, I looked inside the date before eating it. You can see what I found in the attached pictures. One of the beetles I found inside a date was still alive. This has happened to me so often that I wanted to ask you now: Do you know that dates regularly contain these small beetles and maggots and other unappetizing remains (last picture)? Is this normal or can it be prevented? And am I really the only one who has noticed this? Of course, I can well imagine that very few people "re-examine" a pitted date. I wish them "bon appétit".
Hi Msl, thank you very much for your contribution and the photos. We are sorry that you found insects in the M-Budget dates. We apologize for the inconvenience. We would like to get to the bottom of your experience. To do this, we ask you to send us the following information via this contact form:
- the place of purchase
- the best-before date
- the batch or lot number
You will generally find the latter next to the best-before date. It usually begins with the letter L or a mixture of letters and numbers. Thank you in advance for your valuable support. Best regards, your M-Infoline team
