Hello, M-Infoline Team
I have a question that’s been bothering me and seems totally illogical to me.
Here’s the thing:
About four months ago, I asked why the plastic lid had been removed from the crème fraîche.
Your answer basically said this:
We removed the PET lid because the current market is increasingly focused on reducing packaging and using reusable solutions. The aluminum lid is recyclable, whereas the PET lid had to be disposed of in household waste. Migros always strives to avoid unnecessary materials and to use a minimum of different packaging options.
Now you really need to explain to me what’s logical about this, since the container is the same as the one used for crème fraîche, and the aluminum foil on top is also the same as on the crème fraîche container.
How does that fit with your claim that you want to save plastic, when the cup with the cream cheese has exactly the same lid as the one that used to be on the crème fraîche?
You said it yourselves:
The aluminum lid is recyclable, while the PET lid had to be disposed of in household waste.
So how can it make sense that the cream cheese has a lid but the crème fraîche product doesn’t?
It makes the least sense that you want to save plastic and take away the practical lid for the crème fraîche but then put one on the cream cheese.
Honestly, this is way over my head and completely contradicts what you told me back then.
That’s why it’s giving me a headache—because it just isn’t logical. Either you remove them everywhere where this cup is used, or you leave it as it was, but half-measures are really illogical and make zero sense in my eyes ;-)
Best regards

PS: If you’d like a photo as proof, I’d be happy to send it to you later, but the product looks exactly like the picture above.
Hello ghostvampira, thank you very much for your detailed feedback. We understand that the different packaging formats are causing you some concern. For cream cheese, the plastic lid is the standard solution on the market. Nevertheless, we appreciate your concerns and are happy to address this issue as part of our next packaging redesign. Best regards, your M-Infoline Team
Hello M-Infoline
Yeah, I get that, but it just doesn’t make sense to say that Migros wants to cut down on plastic and then leave out those lids, but then put a lid on something like cream cheese. It’s obvious that those two things don’t add up, right? It would make sense if they said they want to cut down on plastic and remove all those lids. I just felt like Migros was really pulling my leg—telling me they’re removing lids to reduce plastic waste, but then putting one on cream cheese, which will probably end up in the trash eventually. It’d be like buying those silicone lids and throwing them away after you’re done—you don’t do that. Well, at least I don’t, and I still have a few that are intact, including the one from the cream cheese, so I can keep the contents fresh, which is helpful. I’m certainly not the only one who doesn’t throw something like that in the trash once I’ve opened the product. Especially now that they’re almost impossible to find, I use them all the time and set them aside when I’m out of a product—that way I can keep it well protected until it’s used up, and then you can just wash the lid and keep using it; it’s not that hard. Sure, it doesn’t last forever—eventually you have to throw it away—but you have to do that with silicone lids too, since they don’t last forever if you use them all the time ;-)

Even if "fake positive reviews" are posted after every bad but honest review, this unfortunately does not make the product any better. If Migros does not want honest feedback on its products, then the rating function should be switched off. But the manipulation of ratings by fake profiles does not create trust.
Hello Rabey, thank you very much for your contribution. Preferences and needs vary. This is also reflected in the ratings. Regardless of whether it's criticism, suggestions or praise - we give every review the same level of attention.
