Why has the packaging of this Linzertorte been changed? I don't understand that it is now in a cardboard box and in plastic and without a cake tray anymore? Now I have more waste!!!

Compared to plastic, however, the disposal of cardboard is free and can usually be handed in on your doorstep every month. What's more, the other cakes have always been made of cardboard. They probably wanted to have a common appearance (the Amaretta, Bio Torte, Nuss Engadiner Torte, etc.).

Hello Is alcohol used as a carrier for flavors in the production process? Or is alcohol or animal substances otherwise used in production? Kind regards

Hello Altun, thank you for your question. Our products do not contain any pork ingredients that are not listed in the list of ingredients. JOWA AG uses only vegetable fats and oils or butter to make its bread and bakery products, but no animal slaughter fats and therefore no pork fat or lard. Jowa offers various products with alcohol. The list of ingredients clearly shows whether we use alcohol. If the alcohol content is over 0.5 %, we state the percentage of the ingredient containing alcohol in the list of ingredients. There is an alcohol label on the packaging. This complies with the law. Best regards, your M-Infoline team

When are you making a vegan version of the Linzertorte? It would be really great if there was a vegan version and I would be eternally grateful 🙏🏼😊🌸 lg Lilana

Hello Lilana, thank you for your kind inquiry. Given your description, we understand why you wouldn't be averse to a vegan option! In fact, we are constantly trying to expand our range of plant-based foods. There are currently no plans to move in this direction with the Linzertorte. However, we are open to your suggestion and will consider it as part of the next product range revision. We hope our efforts are in your interest. Best regards, your M-Infoline team

E471 of vegetable or animal origin?

Hello Bubu81, thank you for your question. E471" is an emulsifier of vegetable origin. JOWA AG does not use any animal emulsifiers. We generally use emulsifiers, fats, oils and glycerine of vegetable origin in all JOWA products. Best regards, your M-Infoline Team

I have just bought one of these Linzer tarts because I thought it was vegan. However, I was shocked to discover that this is no longer the case... why has this been changed?

Hello BadPrankster, thank you for your inquiry. Our specialist department has checked your request and informed us that this product has never been vegan. The recipe for this product has not changed. We are very sorry that you can no longer enjoy the product. Best regards, your M-Infoline team

This Linzer Torte costs 3.- at Migros and 3.10 at LeShop - although the prices are communicated as being identical?

Where does it say the prices are identical?

Ok, thanks. I was aware that they say that, but not that Le Shop even puts it in writing.

At Coop 450g cost 3.60 converted to the Migros size, the cake should cost 3.20Fr with you... so you are 20 centimes more expensive...

Hoi EEnergy Thank you for your comment - your opinion is important to us. Our specialist department has been informed of your comment. We can tell you the following: Our recipe differs from that of our competitors. Furthermore, the majority of the value chain is in Switzerland. The Linzertorte is made in Switzerland by our own production company Jowa. We regularly check our range and try to offer you the best value for money. We hope you understand and look forward to your next visit to Migros. Kind regards from the M-Infoline team

The compound class of food phosphates includes substances with very different properties. They are among the most controversial additives, even though they are not the most listed. Although they are all 'officially' considered to be completely harmless, the fact that E 341 in low concentrations has proven to be an effective pesticide against grain weevils and moths disproves this claim. It is still controversial whether phosphates can trigger impulsive behavior (hyperactivity) in sensitive children. Polyphosphates can adversely affect calcium metabolism in humans. In combination with other additives - the 'modified starches' (see thickening agents) - calcification of the pelvis occurs in rats. They increase the harmfulness of heavy metals by facilitating their absorption through the intestine. Phosphates can contain numerous impurities. In Japan in the 1950s, several thousand infants were poisoned by increased arsenic residues in a phosphate additive. The economic viability of extracting uranium from phosphates is currently being investigated. However, the cadmium contained in the phosphate would have to be removed first. So far, however, only the fluorine residue (max. 50 mg/kg) has been legally limited in addition to the arsenic content (max. 3 mg/kg).

Hello guest
Thank you for your message.
Basically, additives are nothing new. Individual additives (e.g. sulphurous acid) were already known to the ancient Romans and were mainly used to preserve food. Saltpetre has been used for curing meat and fish since the 14th century. Baking powder, saccharin and benzoic acid (a preservative) have been known since the 19th century.
In the 20th century, the industrial production of food and thus the use of additives became increasingly important. The industrial processing of foodstuffs is basically nothing more than an upstream domestic preparation. However, there are significantly higher requirements for such products (long shelf life, transportability, appropriate taste, appetizing appearance), which can hardly be met without the use of additives. Certain industrially produced foods cannot be manufactured without additives (e.g. processed cheese cannot be made without melting salts, margarine cannot be made without emulsifiers).
The additives currently approved by the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Federal Office of Public Health (FOPH) are harmless to health! They are among the best-studied substances in our food and are only approved once strict toxicological tests have proven their harmlessness.
If you want to limit or reduce your consumption of additives, you should stick to largely unprocessed products and staple foods. At Migros, you will find a wide range of staple foods, minimally processed products or products that have only been preserved using cold (frozen products), heat (canned goods in tins, bags, trays) or drying (e.g. dried fruit). With the wide variety of products that we offer, nothing should really stand in the way of your desire for a diet that is as additive-free as possible.
We hope that our answer has provided you with sufficient information and wish you a good weekend.
See you soon in your Migros - we look forward to seeing you! Your M-Infoline team
