Can the light version also be used for brown sauces, or does this have a strong influence on the color?

Can this product be used cold?
Why not? Cornstarch can always be mixed cold.
Hello H_Hoerler, Maizena Sauce thickener light has been specially developed for thickening sauces, but also for stirring directly into other boiling liquids. It must always be boiled for approx. 1-3 minutes to develop its effect and thicken sauces or other liquids. In contrast to normal corn starch, the sauce thickener can be stirred directly into boiling water without forming lumps and does not need to be stirred into cold water beforehand.
