Are the infusion bags actually made of plastic or cellulose?
Hello Raika, we were happy to discuss your request with our specialist department. They have informed us that the Klostergarten teas are so-called medicinal teas, as is the case with this article. Teas with a medicinal effect must be approved by the authorities. This is because the ingredients they contain must have a minimum content of active ingredients and/or lead substances.
To ensure that the Klostergarten teas retain this minimum content during storage, the bags have always been flavor-sealed. Even though the sachets of the tea bags used to feel like paper, the material was made of a plastic called "polyvinylidene chloride-paper composite". This meant that the sachets could not be recycled and had to be disposed of with household waste. The new packaging is now made of 100% polypropylene, which means you can dispose of it in the plastic collection.
To ensure that the teas continue to retain their usual and legally required quality, it is essential to continue using a plastic outer bag in the future. We assure you that we design our packaging as ecologically as possible - always in compliance with the legal requirements, of course. Best regards, your M-Infoline team
Sorry, but unfortunately my question was not interpreted correctly. I am not interested in the individual packaging of the bags but in the material of the bag "net" in which the tea is contained!
This is because plastic tea bags, especially those made of nylon or polypropylene, can release considerable amounts of microplastics when brewed with hot water. These particles, which are smaller than 5 millimeters, can have potentially harmful effects on health.
The benefits of healthy tea would then no longer apply....
Many thanks and best regards.... Raika
Hello Raika, our double-chamber tea bags consist solely of natural wood and banana leaf fibers in addition to the thread and label, to which minimal amounts of a so-called wet strength agent are added during production. This is to make the filter paper tear-resistant. It bonds inseparably with the paper fibers and is insoluble in water. Unfortunately, it is not yet technically possible to produce tea bags, coffee filters or even handkerchiefs without wet strength agents without them disintegrating on contact with moisture.
The thread material is cotton, the label is made of paper.
The tea bags are harmless to health according to all national and international European standards and can be disposed of in organic waste or garden compost. Best regards, your M-Infoline team
👍 Thank you very much for the additional message!
Kind regards Raika

Is the breast tea from Klostergarten available again in the usual recipe or only with fennel and thyme? I notice that the other herbal teas are not fully declared in the store either, which is absolutely questionable! Posted Feb 17, 2023
Hello Ostandi, thank you for the question. Unfortunately, this tea was not available due to a shortage of raw materials. The previously contained components lungwort and pansy herb were missing. We had to change the recipe to make the tea available again. These two ingredients, which are not relevant to its effectiveness, are no longer included in the new recipe. On the other hand, the rosehip peel content has been increased, which we believe also improves the taste. What are you missing in the declaration of the herbal teas? Do you have any examples? Best regards, your M-Infoline team
Well, if I wrote "ONLY with fennel and thyme?", the rosehip was probably also missing from the declaration in the new recipe! Well, I still have the old packs, here are three examples, valid store declaration until 14:30h on 17.Feb2023: BRUSTTEE(Declared: fennel, thyme): Old recipe on pack: 25% ribwort herb, 25% licorice root, 20% thyme, 10% fennel, 5% rosehip peel, 5% lungwort, 5% quendel herb, 5% pansy herb.
------------------- LEBER-GALLE TEE (declared: camomile blossom, fennel, peppermint): Old recipe on pack: 38% peppermint, 20% yarrow herb, 16% cardamom, 15% dandelion, 5% camomile blossom, 5% liquorice root, 1% fennel.
---------------- MAGEN- UND DARMTEE(Declared: chamomile blossoms, aniseed, fennel): Old recipe on pack: 25% peppermint leaves, 20% fennel, 15% aniseed, 15% chamomile blossoms, 15% caraway, 5% lemon balm leaves, 5% cinnamon bark. end.
Hello Ostandi, thank you very much for your insightful feedback. We immediately discussed your observations with our specialist department. The latter confirmed that the discrepancies in the information are due to an error on our website. We will correct the information as soon as possible. Best regards, your M-Infoline team
It is March 11, 2023, 19 days have passed and the errors have not yet been corrected as "quickly as possible"! A trainee could add the current recipes manually in 2-3 hours in "Further information - herbal variety".

Why is the breast tea advertised as a promotion, but is not available at all? Breast tea is my favorite for colds! What a shame if it is no longer available. Hopefully it will be just as good with the new recipe!
Hello Vrieda, unfortunately the tea is still not available due to a shortage of raw materials.
As a result, we have adjusted the recipe to ensure availability again in the future. We expect to be able to offer the breast tea again in the usual quality at the beginning of 2023.
We plan our promotions well in advance, which is why we could not have foreseen that the item would not be available. We apologize for the inconvenience. Best regards, your M-Infoline team

Hello, When I asked the store, they said that the Klostergarten breast tea was being removed from the range. Is this the case? If so, it would be a real shame.
Hello Migichelle, unfortunately this item is currently not available. This is due to a shortage of raw materials and an adjustment to the recipe. The tea is expected to be available again at the beginning of 2023. In the meantime, we recommend the Organic Monastery Garden Thyme Herb. Best regards, your M-Infoline team
Why adjust the recipe? The tea is perfect as it is... that's why everyone buys the breast tea from Migros.
Hello Migichelle, the recipe for this tea has been changed as lungwort and wild pansy can no longer be sourced in the same quality and we are therefore eliminating these ingredients. Best regards, your M-Infoline team
Dear M-Infoline Team Thank you very much for your clear and informative reply. This is how I would like to see transparent communication with customers. At the same time, I too am very sorry that this great cough-soothing tea is currently not available. It is needed!
@M-Infoline >> I have a contact at a company in Switzerland that can plant the missing herbs (lungwort and pansy). You are welcome to contact me for the information.
Hello pg20, thank you for your suggestion. However, this is no longer necessary as we are already in the process of changing the recipe. Best regards, your M-Infoline team

Hello, I really like this range of herbal teas, but I'm surprised to see that the packaging for the bags is now made of plastic. Too bad for the environment! Why did you change?

Hello abc86, thank you for your inquiry about the tea. After consulting our specialist department, we can inform you that the tea does not contain any ingredients that would be harmful to children in any way. The teas can be given to children from the age of three. We recommend drinking two cups a day warm if necessary. The fact that the tea is not recommended for children under 12 is due to the lack of medical tests. Best regards, your M-Infoline team

I am horrified: I've replenished my stock of breast tea and now find that plastic film is now being used as packaging instead of the paper envelope with the tea bag - so this is sustainability in 2021, which Migros is so proud of? Sorry, dear Migros - how can this happen and what is the reason for this senseless packaging change? And when will the paper packaging that has been tried and tested for umpteen years be reintroduced? I don't really want to do without this product (after all, I use 1 pack a week!). Thank you for your reply
Good morning alfavia This question has already been answered here in French by M-Infoline and myself.M-Infoline , wrote elsewhere in German:The Klostergarten medicinal teas have a medicinal effect and are officially approved. For the ingredients contained in medicinal teas, a minimum content of the active ingredients and / or the lead substances is prescribed. In order for the products to meet their usual and legally required qualities, it is essential to continue to use a plastic outer bag. The new material is not a polyvinylidene chloride-paper composite, as was previously the case, but a mono-material, polypropylene. This is one of the most frequently used plastics for packaging and is currently classified as the most recyclable in the plastics sector. We try to design our packaging as ecologically as possible in compliance with legal requirements. Best regardsFrederica

Hello, I've just bought 2 new tins and I was very surprised that the tea bag packaging was made of plastic instead of paper. Why? It was much better for the environment to use paper, which I used to recycle, so why did you change? Thank you for your reply.

Hello Sinina, thank you for your request. This product is a medicinal herbal tea. Klostergarten medicinal herbal teas have always been packaged in sealed sachets to preserve their full aroma, both because of their therapeutically effective constituents and to comply with legal requirements concerning the minimum content of active ingredients and key substances. Disposal of the sachet wrappers is via household waste or plastic collection bags or containers where available. We would like to inform you that the sachet wrappers for Klostergarten herbal teas have changed material this year. In order for the products to meet their usual quality and legal requirements, it is essential to continue using a plastic outer bag in future. The material used for the new outer bag is polypropylene (PP). Polypropylene is one of the most widely used plastics for packaging, and is currently classified as the most recyclable material in the plastics sector. The material used up to now, a composite of PVDC and paper, is usually only subject to thermal recovery, and is the subject of ecological debate as it is an integral part of chlorine chemistry. The new polypropylene, on the other hand, has the advantage that it can be used again as a plastic after disposal. Plastics such as polypropylene are therefore sustainable, as they are resource-efficient, offer a more environmentally-friendly alternative and offer the only possible solution to the requirements of a medicinal herbal tea. We hope you find this information useful. Best regards, your M-Infoline team

is an overdose possible with klostergarten breast tea - if so, what kind?
Hello hallodria, thank you for your inquiry. We have discussed your request with our tea manager and can tell you the following. The product Klostergarten Benedictus Brusttee is a herbal tea blend that reduces the urge to cough and promotes expectoration. The tea does not contain any ingredients that have a toxic effect, so it is not possible to overdose on the tea. However, please note the instructions on the packet: you can drink up to five cups a day if necessary. If you have a cough that lasts longer than 7 days, we recommend consulting a doctor. Do you have any further questions? We hope this answer will help you and wish you a good day. Best regards, your M-Infoline team

Hi, I think the breast tea is great, it's the only one that helps me with my cough. My question: what are the nutritional values per cup or 100 ml? It contains licorice root... Does the finished tea contain sugar? (then I wouldn't be able to drink it after brushing my teeth) Thank you for your help!
Hello diana_279 The nutritional values stated on the packaging refer to 100 ml. Unfortunately, we are unable to provide a clarifying answer regarding liquorice, as even the experts are not in agreement. Licorice has a certain carbohydrate content, around 58g per 100g, but the proportion per sachet is relatively small. There are also indications that the anti-inflammatory effect of the substances contained in the root, such as glycyrrhizin, glabridin and licoricidin, could help prevent tooth decay and periodontitis. However, if you brush your teeth after drinking tea, you are certainly not doing anything wrong. We hope you find this information useful and wish you a good day. Your M-Infoline team
