We've been drinking the tea for almost two years. Normally it is super tasty and helps. Unfortunately, it is extremely bitter and unpalatable again. It was the same last year. We had to dispose of 8 packs again (batches 2273 6018 and 2281 0681, both best before 07.2023). What a pity. Yes, it is a natural product and therefore subject to fluctuations in taste. Unfortunately, all we can do now is wait again until the shelves are restocked with "new" goods. Is it just us or has anyone else had this experience?

In order to rule out any qualitative impairments, we have tasted our retained sample for this item and can tell you that the tea has the characteristic taste profile you would expect. I have exactly the same problem and with the same lot number 2273 6018. I've been drinking the tea for ages and it's never happened to me before, but I'm glad it's just an isolated case and not a change to the recipe.

We also noticed a bitter taste in this tea, lot 1381 6466 - almost undrinkable! What happened there? We've always enjoyed drinking this tea... and it works! And it works! Can I exchange it without a receipt?

We have been buying the calming tea for several years. Have you changed anything in the recipe? Since this pack, the taste is no longer as mild, rather bitter, like a stomach tea! Hopefully this will change again, because we really like the Klostergarten teas.

It is completely incomprehensible to me why tea bags have been packaged in paper for years and now each bag has to be individually packaged in plastic! Is this supposed to preserve the taste for longer? If so, then for me this is a very bad reason. In my opinion, the consumer is simply being littered with unnecessary plastic.
Hello Cesam, thank you for the message. The teas from Klostergarten are so-called medicinal teas. Teas with a medicinal effect must be approved by the authorities. This is because the ingredients they contain must have a minimum content of active ingredients and/or lead substances. To ensure that the Klostergarten teas retain this minimum content during storage, the bags have always been flavor-sealed. Even though the sachets of the tea bags used to feel like paper, they were made of a plastic called "polyvinylidene chloride-paper composite". This meant that the sachets could not be recycled and had to be disposed of with household waste. The new packaging is now made of 100% polypropylene, which means it can be disposed of in the plastic collection. To ensure that the teas meet their usual and legally required qualities, it is essential that we continue to use a plastic outer bag. Why did they change the packaging of the sachets--from paper to plastic? You try to avoid plastic and they from paper switch to plastic! Absurd!

This is because the ingredients must contain a minimum amount of the effective components and/or markers. To ensure that Klostergarten herbal teas maintain this minimum amount during storage, the sachets have always been contained in sealed packages. Although until now the packaging of the sachets resembled paper to the touch, it was made of a synthetic material, more specifically a combination of paper and polyvinylidene chloride. Therefore, the packaging could not be recycled but had to be disposed of in household waste. The new sachet packages are made of 100 percent polypropylene, which is why they can now be added to the plastic collection. For herbal teas to meet the usual quality requirements as well as legal requirements, it is essential that we continue to use an outer sachet made of synthetic material. We sell this product exclusively in our stores in Switzerland and in the German and French border regions. Our online shops only deliver to Switzerland and the Principality of Liechtenstein.
We can therefore not tell you if and where this tea is sold in Belgium. If you know someone in Switzerland, you could perhaps ask them to buy the item and send it to you privately.
