We have received the following feedback from the supplier - Ferrero has recently decided to simplify the ingredients list by removing the ingredient shellac, a glazing agent that gives the coating more shine. The coating comes from lice, shellac, Aunt Google helps. I didn't know that either. But the product is still delicious.
Hi Maxiii, the manufacturer uses shellac in the coating of children's chocolate candies to make them shinier. This is an additive that has been widely used in food and pharmaceuticals for decades and is derived from the secretion of an insect (the insect itself is not used).
