How long do these chestnuts keep? I read on the net that they should be kept refrigerated. And at room temperature they only keep for about 7 days, which I find hard to believe. You can also read about treatments with water that increase the shelf life. But I can't find any information about this on the packaging either.

Hello Smifi, thank you for your question, which we looked into. We found out that the shelf life of chestnuts depends on the preservation method chosen. This means in detail: Unprocessed chestnuts will keep for about 1-2 weeks if stored in a cool, dry place. Dried chestnuts can keep for several months to a year in airtight containers. Chestnuts can be kept in the freezer for up to 6-12 months. Pickled chestnuts will keep for several months in sterilized jars as long as the jars are unopened. Chestnut flour: If stored in a cool, dry place, chestnut flour will keep for several months. It is important to check the chestnuts regularly for mold or other signs of spoilage.
