3 questions

Dear Migros As I couldn't find the article "Small potatoes" in a tin, I'm asking my question about a semi-related article: In times of sufficient electricity, gas etc. it would never occur to me to buy potatoes in a can, but this year I'm trying to put together an emergency supply so that I can get a good meal on my plate with as little energy as possible. All kinds of cans are fine with me, because the energy for cooking is canned along with the food, so to speak. Hence the question: Where and when can you get these tinned potatoes in Migros, which you can still google and find as a Migros item? Thank you very much for your answer and best regards, IchNochmal

Hello IchNochmal, we no longer have the tinned potatoes you were looking for in our range. Unfortunately, not all our customers liked them. I understand what you mean - canned products are good for emergency stocks. However, we do stock items that contain potatoes, such as Russian salad or goulash soup. Best regards, your M-Infoline team

Dear Infoline, thank you very much for your reply. Yes, I have already seen products with potatoes, just not potatoes on their own, but that's a shame. Best regards, IchNochmal

Why is it not possible to pack baked potatoes in smaller quantities? 2.5 kg is too much for a household of 2 people. Thank you for the clarification.

Hello orangesM Thank you for your feedback and your interest. Unfortunately, we cannot offer different pack sizes of each product due to space constraints. Potatoes are a product with a long shelf life, which is why we have opted for a larger packaging unit. This has also proved successful and has been well received by our customers. We will of course take your request on board and pass it on to the relevant specialist department. Best wishes and en Guete! Your M-Infoline team

@M-Infoline I fully understand your justification of "not all pack sizes possible", which is why I think it would be ideal if all potato varieties were generally no longer offered in packs, but only sold open. This would allow every customer to buy the quantity that suits them. It would also eliminate all the plastic packaging, at least in part, if environmentally conscious customers put their potatoes loose in the shopping bag. And please don't bring up the subject of "for logistical reasons"... Sometimes there are even open varieties on offer, but these are usually only the waxy ones, and in exceptional cases the red, floury Bündner potatoes, which I always buy straight away. Why not all of them and no more pre-cooked ones? It works for most of your other vegetables too, e.g. the much more susceptible tomatoes. In some stores you have what feels like 80 tomato varieties on offer. Thank you in advance for adapting your potato strategy... :-) Greetings Olito

Hello orangesM, thank you for your suggestion. As you have already written, we have the waxy potatoes on sale open. With the best will in the world, it is not possible for us to offer all the potatoes open due to lack of space. We therefore try to find a good mix between open and packaged products so that everyone gets their money's worth. Best regards, your M-Infoline team

Baked potatoes should also be sold in 1 kg bags. 2.5 kg is simply too much!

Hello orangesM
Thank you for your comment.
The packaging size of baked potatoes has proven itself in the fruit and vegetable sector and is a common sales content in these areas. Compared to salads, for example, potatoes are a product that does not spoil very quickly.
However, we are aware that the content is not the optimum quantity for all our customers. Determining the ideal weight of an item is not easy. In addition to the needs of our customers, packaging costs and sustainability must also be taken into account.
We hope our explanation is comprehensible and wish you happy summer days!
Best regards from the M-Infoline team

@M-Infoline See my input above on your answer to another customer's question... Packaging costs and, above all, sustainability would probably be many times better with open potatoes. I don't want to know how many greyed potatoes have to be disposed of per household every year because of oversized packaging... Migros & Co (op) have probably realized at some point that they can sell more with pre-packed plastic bags than if customers can determine the quantity they buy themselves. Regardless of how much is thrown away in the end. In the end, capitalism wins out over sustainability... Too bad... Best regards Olito
