Which printer is better for home use, inkjet or laser? I don't print much but I scan a lot.

Thanks for your quick reply. So I have never printed photos, always went to the machines, so I will keep doing that. I have read that almost all printers have a life span of 5-7 years and then they break. I had an hp officejet pro 6970 and now it is broken because the ink in the cartridges leaked often and I didn't notice. They emptied on the far right under the ink dispenser and on the far left and I only recently bought new cartridges. Well, hp said they were aware of this but unfortunately there was nothing they could do about it.
