From 80 Rp. to 1.50Fr.... within four days?
That's an extreme mark-up.
Hello clini, thank you for your message. The increase is due to the switch to domestic products. The local price level including costs is significantly higher than abroad. This explains the price adjustment. We hope this information is helpful to you. Best regards, your M-Infoline team
Why is there a switch to domestic products when there are other alternatives that come from within the country (organic and demented cucumber)?
Hi clini, thank you for your feedback. Migros strives to source as many products as possible from within Switzerland. We do this according to the season and the availability of products in order to ensure a sustainable and efficient supply. We have of course passed on your feedback to the specialist department. Best regards, your M-Infoline team

I have another question and don't know where to put 🙈 these cucumbers e.g. I rated them 1 year ago ... what do I do with them today - delete old rating ..🤔
Hello Turkey, thank you for your question. You are welcome to leave your product review. Is there a specific reason why you want to delete it? Has anything changed in your review? Best regards, your M-Infoline team
Hello, no it doesn't. But if I rate my last purchase, for example, and it contains fresh items that were not good or even better this time - the rating would no longer be correct ... it mainly concerns fresh products - the rating from a year ago doesn't help anyone today ... it should be up to date, shouldn't it?
Hello Turkey, thank you for your reply. You can adjust your ratings at any time if a product improves or deteriorates for you. We are of course always happy to receive up-to-date product reviews. Best regards, your M-Infoline team
That's why ... an old review is often of little use - so now I know ... thank you very much

At the moment there are organic cucumbers from Spain for 1.- and from the region for 1.20. Although I prefer to buy locally, I bought the ones from Spain because they certainly don't come from a heated greenhouse. How can I tell whether a non-organic vegetable comes from a greenhouse heated with oil/gas or not?
Hello GiuliaZ, thank you for your message about the price of the cucumbers. This is a campaign for Vitaminfranken - but we understand your concern and we have informed the relevant departments about your feedback. Our goal is to operate the greenhouses with renewable energy sources by 2025: https://www.migros.ch/de/nachhaltigkeit/klima-energie/unsere-fortschritte/klimafreundlichere-produkte/gewaechshaeuser.html At present, we do not yet indicate whether a cucumber comes from a greenhouse with renewable energy sources or not. If you let us know which region you buy from, we can ask the cooperative whether this information is available. Best regards, your M-Infoline team

Why is the cucumber so much more expensive at your store than at Denner?
Hello JFV, thank you for your inquiry. The cooperatives calculate their prices themselves, which is why there may be regional price differences. Can you let us know which region you buy from so that we can provide you with more detailed information about the price calculation? Best regards, your M-Infoline team

In your reply below you say that if you don't plasticize the cucumbers 🥒 the product goes bad! At the price we pay, isn't it Migros' problem to supply us with fresh produce? So I should go to the co-op to buy my cucumbers?
Hello blossomup, thank you for your message. Imported cucumbers are always packaged, whether organic or not. For us, product protection is paramount. An unpackaged cucumber is no longer presentable after a few days and is therefore no longer saleable, whereas with 1.5 g of packaging that limits water loss, it stays fresh for around 2 weeks. In this way, we can do something about food waste, 45% of which is caused by households. In Switzerland, all imported cucumbers are packaged in plastic because of the long transport distances within the country. With best regards, your M-Infoline team

Migros wants to reduce plastic and now only sells cucumbers in plastic wrap. Why?
Hello UK, cucumbers spoil very quickly. For this reason, we pack imported cucumbers on their long transportation routes. Conversely, domestic cucumbers are not packaged due to the short distances involved. Best regards, your M-Infoline team

I was very pleased to see in Migros that the conventional cucumbers are no longer packaged in plastic. Will this remain the case in the future?
Hello __celine__, thank you for your inquiry. Whether the cucumbers are packaged depends on their origin. Swiss goods are not packaged due to the short transportation route. Packaging is necessary for goods from abroad, as the cucumbers would lose a lot of liquid on the long transport route and would therefore have a shorter shelf life. Best regards, your M-Infoline team

I would be interested to know why cucumbers always have to be shrink-wrapped. You could do without the plastic packaging, couldn't you?
Hello soeke Thank you for your interest and commitment. Many of our customers are only familiar with the disadvantages of this type of packaging. However, the packaging also has significant advantages: Long-lasting freshness, extended shelf life, better protection and less soiling. An unpackaged cucumber can no longer be sold after three days. However, 1.5 grams of packaging keeps the cucumber fresh and attractive for 14 days. If less of the product spoils because of the packaging, the environment is better served. We hope this information has been helpful and wish you an enjoyable week. Your M-Infoline team

A "funny" incident last Saturday at M Gümligen. There were only about 10 dwarf cucumbers left on the vegetable shelf for Fr. 1.60 a piece. I thought that was a bit much for a conventional one, but as I really needed one, I grabbed one anyway. By chance, the customer behind me at the checkout had also put down a cucumber, it was right next to mine (only the divider between them), but was about twice as big. I asked her where she had got it and was told that the shelf had just been restocked. I then pointed out this striking difference to the cashier and asked her if the two cucumbers were really the same price, to which she replied in the affirmative. So, not being lazy, I ran back to the vegetable shelf and exchanged my cucumber for a larger one (making four instead of two salad portions for the same price). All's well that ends well... Can't understand why they don't sell cucumbers by weight too, then customers can choose whether they want a bigger or smaller one and pay a fair price for it.
Hi Feathercloud
Thank you for your comment - we really appreciate your opinion.
It is customary for cucumbers to be sold by the piece and not by weight. Our product requirements for suppliers clearly state how large and heavy a cucumber delivered to Migros must be. In your case, some small/too small cucumbers were probably sold. Unfortunately, this is possible despite strict controls at the goods receiving department. We apologize to you for this.
We have forwarded your information to the responsible departments in Purchasing and Quality Assurance. We will continue to monitor the situation.
We hope our cucumbers will convince you again and look forward to your next visit.
Best regards from the M-Infoline team
Yes, standard... There finally needs to be a rethink, that would be something for Generation M! Because what happens to the cucumbers that are too small and supposedly shouldn't be sold? Let me guess: Compost or biogas plant! Just like those cucumbers that are too curved. As a diligent cyclist and nature observer in the Seeland, I keep coming across (hidden) huge piles of vegetables that are still perfectly edible but have minor defects. There would certainly be enough single-person households that would buy a smaller but fresher cucumber twice a week at a cheaper price than a large, expensive one once, where there is a risk of the rest spoiling.
Dear Feathercloud
Thank you for your feedback.
Food waste is a major issue. According to studies, up to 50 percent of food is lost, from agricultural production, processing and retail through to the consumer - half of which is lost by consumers themselves. On behalf of the Retail Trade Committee, an internal project group has investigated where and how much food waste is produced in Migros stores and restaurants. The analysis revealed that 98.7 percent of all food offered by Migros fulfills its actual purpose: They are either sold regularly to consumers or given away at a reduced price to employees, or free of charge to charitable organizations.
Only 1.3 percent of the food is not used as such: Of this, 1.1 percent is used for other purposes - for example as animal feed, compost or it is turned into biogas in fermentation plants. The remaining 0.2 percent of food ends up as waste in waste incineration plants. Despite these comparatively high usage rates, Migros specialists are constantly looking for ways to further reduce waste.
Thanks to optimized production methods, far fewer crooked cucumbers or fruit or vegetables that are too small or too large are growing today. And even if there are any, they are used to a large extent by industry and gastronomy.
We hope this information has been helpful and wish you an enjoyable week. Your M-Infoline Team
Yesterday I discovered mini cucumbers at M Gümligen, about half the size of the normal ones (but not the usual "salad cucumbers" full of seeds, which I don't like at all). So there you go! :)
