Migros' pomelo used to come from Israel. For a few years now, however, they have been imported from China. Can you tell me how the pomelo is transported to Switzerland?

I don't understand why pomelos have to be sold in plastic packaging. The skin of the fruit is enough protection. Can't that be left out? Would save some more plastic. Seen and bought at Migros Bachenbülach on 17.10.2020
I suspect that without the plastic, a much larger proportion of fruit would not survive the long transportation route, which would be even less sustainable. From an environmental point of view, it is probably best to switch to fruit that grows closer to Switzerland.
