I think Freiland Mix has too many cereal grains. These are left lying around by the birds, especially in winter, because they contain little energy. Can't something be changed?
Hello guest
Thank you for your comment.
Which of the various offers are preferred by the birds depends on various factors. On the one hand certainly the local bird population, on the other hand especially the food supply in the area. If there is a lot of feeding in an area, it may well be that the birds prefer certain foods.
Birds are also gourmets and not every bird species has the same preferences. For this reason, Migros has various feeders in its range - with a little experimentation, you too can find the ideal food for the birds in your garden.
If you offer the birds food in practical bird feeders with storage silos, they will not have the opportunity to selectively eat. The problem of selective feeding arises in particular when bird feeders without a storage silo are used (such bird feeders are also unsuitable because of the risk of soiling the food) because, like humans, birds usually take what they like best first.
See you soon in your Migros.

What they say is true. Example: Among tits, blue tits like tit dumplings best.

But I still think it has too many wheat grains. Because in winter the birds need a lot of energy and wheat, oats and other cereals provide little energy. In winter, even house sparrows often leave wheat lying around. In summer, however, house sparrows (and other birds too) need less energy and they have a strong conical beak, so they eat more cereal grains in summer. But it doesn't matter, I'll just buy different bird food at Migros next season.

Hello,
It's that time of year again when we feed our faithful wild birds. Nevertheless, I wonder why products such as food for wild birds are so expensive? Does Migros want to make as much profit as possible or do the prices really only just cover the costs?
Unfortunately, it seems to me that the high prices are not justified. It's a real shame, because nobody feels compelled to feed the wild animals, not at such high prices anyway. Is there a possibility that the aim of such products is not to make a lot of money but to provide a common service to nature?
Hello huegli
Thank you for your contribution.
The sales prices are mainly determined by the raw material prices, but production is not the cost driver.
Together with our manufacturer and in consultation with the Sempach Ornithological Institute, we take great care to ensure that both the composition and the selection of raw materials meet the highest quality standards in line with requirements. In the end, the birds in the wild are happy about this.

So far I haven't found anything wrong with the price and if I want to do something for the many animals in my garden, I'm prepared to pay something. I can fully understand that a company also wants to earn something and doesn't want to pay the raw material prices alone.

I am also in favor of covering the costs, but making a lot of money on food for wild animals is not correct in my opinion.
There are also people who don't have a high budget and would like to do something for the animals in their garden. After all, it's not a hobby but something "charitable"!
