I had the same experience as schmidix. I bought the new item and compared it with the old one at home. Yes, the material is noticeably thinner and the surface is no longer as soft. Of course, the thinner material crumples more when worn. The lack of a cut-out in the adhesive strip makes it more difficult to remove. I didn't notice any negative effect when sticking it on. But all in all, the product has deteriorated.
