⸻Subject: Potential for certified halal products in the Migros range

⸻ Betreff: Potenzial für zertifizierte Halal-Produkte im Migros-Sortiment

Ladies and Gentlemen

There has been a steadily growing Islamic community in Switzerland for over 50 years - yet a particularly attractive market potential remains largely untapped: the range of certified halal slaughtered meat and chicken, both fresh and frozen.

The introduction of a clearly declared, trustworthy halal range would not only appeal to a significant customer group, but would also send out a strong signal of diversity, integration and customer proximity. Many families would reward such an offer with great appreciation and loyalty.

I hope that Migros will recognize this potential and act accordingly in the future.

Luckily, as Missy writes, we are in Switzerland and our laws and our culture have top priority here...and those who halal should do it in the many interesting Turkish stores. You don't have to dance at every wedding and cover everything...

If your arguments are correct, I wonder why the Jewish community in Switzerland - as far as I know - is allowed to slaughter animals entirely in accordance with religious law, i.e. without stunning.
Personally, as a Muslim, I do not feel disadvantaged by this - on the contrary: I am genuinely pleased that the Jewish community is allowed to adhere to its religious guidelines in this sensitive area. I respect and appreciate that very much.
I would also like to see Islamic practices treated with similar respect - within a framework that does justice to both the Swiss Animal Welfare Act and religious freedom.
