Some time ago it was reported that Migros - in order to strengthen its position in the organic sector - would like to work with Alnatura in future: http://www.foodaktuell.ch/editorial.php?id=1259. The first Alnatura store is planned to open in Zurich in late summer.
I regularly shop at Alnatura in Germany because the range of inexpensive organic products in Switzerland is unsatisfactory and too expensive in comparison. My favorite Alnatura products are: non-refrigerated tofu (almond-nut, natural), original Italian tomato sauce (found to be ingenious by an expert ;) http://christianrach.de/rach-getestet/alnatura-tomatensauce-original-italienisch/) and Alnatura seasoning mix... The Alnatura organic cereals are also very good.
If there were Alnatura markets in Switzerland, I and many people around me would no longer have to "switch" to Germany and lug organic supplies across the border. I would also finally have a wider range of organic fresh products to choose from. I think Migros' planned organic offensive with Alntura is GENIUS! What do you (other Migros customers) think?
Question for the M-Infoline: What is the development status: will the first Alnatura Migros store open soon and where are the other stores planned (hopefully in central Switzerland..)? Will the same products be available there as in Germany (mainly non-refrigerated tofu, original Italian tomato sauce)?

The first Alnatura Migros organic market will open in Zurich-Höngg on August 30, 2012. If the offer is well received, there are plans to open more organic stores. Where and when has not yet been decided. Unfortunately, we can't tell you anything about the product range yet, but fortunately the opening is quite soon.
We would of course be delighted if you could tell us and everyone else here how you like the new organic market!

It really does seem to be a paradise for organic and vegan products. They even stock a wide range of Provamel, Taifun, Biovegan, Rapunzel and Alnatura products. There is spelt drink, almond drink, rice drink and coconut drink, lots of tofu and meat substitutes, puffed amaranth and muesli, as well as fresh products such as vegetables, cheese, meat, bread and natural skincare cosmetics... Unfortunately, I haven't yet had the chance to visit the Alnatura Migros organic market in Zurich. I'll make up for it during the Christmas vacations (I'm looking forward to it) and if the prices are right, I'll persuade my brother to supply me with my favorite products. I am longingly hoping for an Alnatura Migros market in Lucerne...
Please shop at the Alnatura Migros store too! Because Migros will only set up more organic stores throughout Switzerland and expand its organic (vegan) range if our demand and response are strong... ;-)

I am also a big Alnatura customer in Constance. I only get a lot of things there, not even in our health food store.
I welcome the Alnatura stores in Switzerland. But why should I travel from eastern Switzerland, Wil SG, to Zurich.........
Please open one in eastern Switzerland, e.g. 9500 Wil. Otherwise I'll still have to drive to Germany.

I also think the location of the first Migros-Alnatura store is anything but ideal. It would be much better to have a store in the center and at several locations in Switzerland. I'm treating myself to a trip to Zurich during my "vacations" and will then diligently buy my favorite Alnatura and organic brand products, but the time and expense involved in this trip is immense! Let's just hope that Migros opens Migros-Alnatura stores in all regions soon... Otherwise I will have to continue stocking up in Germany.

Update: So, I was finally able to make the trip to Zurich Höngg and do some shopping at the Migros-Alnatura store :-).
Pleasing assortment:
- Baked goods (regionally produced fresh breads, long-life breads from Alnatura, breads for people with coeliac disease, crispbread, breadsticks, potato chips, brands such as Alnavit...)
- Cereals (Yay: puffed Alnatura amaranth! Migros organic oat nuts! Cornflakes made from Ticino corn, countless muesli mixes...)
- Pasta (yay: Morga range! organic wholemeal is also available here... and Rapunzel...)
- Herbs/spices/oils/vinegar (huge choice! Sonnentor, Lebensbaum, Herbaria...)
- Plant drinks (oat, spelt, almond, nut, rice, soy...)
- Tofu (yay: Alnatura long-life tofu almond-nut!, brands like Taifun...)
- Meat substitutes (lots of vegan products based on seitan and tofu, Spacebars, soy shreds from Sobo...)
- Soygurts (Provamel fans will find what they are looking for ;-), unfortunately no Sojade yet...)
- Cheese, eggs, dairy products, meat (there's a lot here for non-vegetarians too)
- Sweets (including vegan Fairtraide chocolates)
- Preserves (vegetables, fruit, ravioli...)
- Sauces, spreads (yay: My Alnatura tomato sauce - original Italian!, vegan spreads, also German specialties such as "Sauerkirsche-Konfi")
- Natural care products, natural cosmetics
And, and, and... Great: in addition to the Migros organic products, it really does have most of Alnatura's own products and some good organic Fairtrade brands in its range.
I was disappointed by the range of vegetables :-(. Mainly out-of-season vegetables from Spain! The only things I could buy from Switzerland were open ones! lamb's lettuce, small kohlrabi and red cabbages. Unfortunately, once again without any details of the producer. The German Alnatura markets should be a role model here, where you can find a large variety of regionally grown, clearly declared, seasonal vegetables as well as "old" vegetable varieties!
Conclusion: A visit to the Migros Alnatura market is definitely worthwhile for anyone who values sustainable shopping and healthy eating, as well as for people with special diets (coeliac disease, lactose intolerance, vegetarian, vegan)! But there is also plenty to discover here for "normal consumers". Alnatura fans will be thrilled anyway ;-). In my opinion, the trip is even worthwhile for people from outside Zurich, even if only once or twice a year...
Once again: Migros should definitely follow the German model and create a network of markets in city centers and expand or change its range of vegetables. If there were such a Migros-Alnatura market in my region (Lucerne), it would significantly improve my quality of life...
