In mid-September or not until the beginning of October? Yes, well, they're only LED lights and they need (almost) no electricity.....
We already know the answer: "That's what the customer wants". I don't know which customer is meant by this, it's certainly not me. But there must obviously be enough strange contemporaries who want to eat winter desserts at 30 degrees, otherwise this nonsense would have been stopped long ago. By the way: 15 years ago, gingerbread and speculoos were put in the stores in Vienna every year on time after Assumption Day (August 15). And in Vienna, it's usually a touch hotter than here.
I totally understand what you mean, but we eat vermicelles all year round (we get the frozen blocks or the plastic sausage full of puree anyway) possibly because my baker in the village also has them and I always get them for my father's birthday. It's his favorite dessert and he gets them in April. But I understand the context, but it's true, the seasonality gets lost. But you don't have to play along. If you want strawberries in winter, harvested by enslaved and raped female field workers (just google why there are always protests there - but nobody listens), you can have them for all I care. Or if you want to buy Magebbrot instead of at the Chilbi/fair, go ahead. I think progress also means you have to learn that you simply don't care what a "customer need" is and whether there's already winter stuff around in late summer - and decide for yourself what you want. Btw I've already seen gingerbread (hearts and stars pretzels) with a chocolate coating. In August. You can buy what you want, I don't feel like it yet and don't have to😆
I'm exactly along these lines: strawberries in December are just as much a no-go for me as mandarins in July! I also pay attention to where the produce comes from when I buy it, for example. I recently passed up fruit from Chile. Unfortunately, the marketing/sales department often decides on "customer needs" and can already hear the cash register ringing. The customer has it in their own hands, but unfortunately this also happens, which has already happened to me (a bit early for this topic, but a classic): Buying Christmas lights at the end of September is out of the question, but I would have had to replace a part at the beginning of December: "Sorry, already sold out", i.e. I should have bought in September as a precaution after all! If the big sale hadn't started until mid-November, that probably wouldn't have happened! Many people say that if I want it, I have to buy it now....

Do I understand correctly that you don't like eating vermicelles in August? Yes, then just don't buy them. Problem solved🙂 Incidentally, I also like to eat vermicelles throughout the year, but I use my frozen stocks and then make them myself. Incidentally, the organic Marronipuree is the best for me. It doesn't contain any palm fat or anything.

I've got out of the habit of getting upset about gingerbread in August since I found out that if I look out for it, I can get it for half price in the sale at the beginning of November (!), even though it keeps until March or so. There are other similar examples, it's just annoying if you miss them and then realize that you've waited too long, as Charlston described above. The same thing happened to me with the vermicelles when I took the last venison schnitzel out of the freezer in February and thought a vermicelles would be nice for dessert. Think again!

Vermicelles are not really an issue for me yet, just like strawberries in December or mandarins in July. I consistently leave off-season products behind. The fact that goods are sometimes transported and sold over tens of thousands of (air) kilometers is just a reflection of our affluent society. I am neither "green-minded" nor on an eco-trip, but the constant availability also means that the appeal is lost; nothing is special anymore. But everyone has to decide that for themselves.
There's something very special about the fact that certain things are only available for a very short time each year, and that's what makes it special! My dad and I have a bet every September to see who will be the first to discover the Satsuma mandarins in the store, which are only available for a short time 😍😁 Currants don't last forever either, so eating them in summer is doubly special. We only have raclette in winter, for example. Fondue too. Fondue Chinoise, for example, only twice: On 25.12. and 31.12. So it remains something special! Vermicelle is definitely not needed in August. It would be far too fattening at 30 degrees... But I saw today in the Instagram story of a friend from Germany that she has already SERIOUSLY served up Christmas cookies and chocolate there... 🙈🙈

I also don't eat strawberries in winter or asparagus from Peru. I could go on and on with this list... But chestnut purée? That's made in season (fall) and frozen. I don't see the problem. It would be like buying strawberries in summer, freezing them and making ice cream out of them in December.

Yes, a fine vermicelli dessert with cream can be eaten all year round, as can doughnuts.
I think fall is slowly arriving in August. The metereological start of fall is also on September 1, so in just a few days ;-). Pumpkins are already ripe, some have been harvested and are already available in the stores (yippee). I always start baking gingerbread again in mid-August. And I don't really have anything against fine vermicelles all year round, as I said, there are frozen marroni-sugar blocks, which is different to freshly flown-in goods.
