Almost one in three people in Germany would therefore like to see a ban on gingerbread, mulled wine and Christmas carols in stores before a certain date each year. This was the result of an online survey conducted by the opinion research institute YouGov on behalf of the news agency dpa. According to the survey, 31 percent are in favor of a legal regulation against early Christmas offers. 59 percent are against a ban.
Annoyed by early Christmas treats
A clear majority of almost two thirds (63%) said they were annoyed by festive cookies and treats being available as early as September. And almost one in two (47 percent) said that early Christmas offers spoil the anticipation of the festive season. However, there is a strong age gap here. Among 18 to 24-year-olds, only 33 percent feel affected. Among 45 to 54-year-olds, the proportion of people whose anticipation of Christmas is dampened is highest at 56%.
If you ask people when they think the pre-Christmas period with Christmas markets, festive decorations and the right range of goods should begin, there is a clear tendency: not before November. 45 percent consider mid-November to be a good starting date, 40 percent the First Advent - this year that is November 30. Only 6 percent would start this Tuesday, the calendar date for the beginning of autumn (September 23). "Quietly after the summer vacations", said just 3 percent. More than 1000 participants were interviewed for the online survey.

Do you think it's still too early at the beginning of September? Personally, would mid-November still be enough for me with the (Christmas) treats?

Hello Luna,
sigh yes unfortunately since the beginning of the month ?

hehe, yes, you can't start early enough. september is okay, i love christmas goodies!

I think it's super cool, as Christmas is just around the corner. So you can get in the mood for the festivities early. All that's missing is the weather, which is becoming rather summery again at the moment?

The early start annoys me too. Elisen-Lebkuchen (or whatever they're called) have been available in Migros since the beginning of September. Mid-November is early enough.

Personally, I find the fuss in the stores annoying. But if nobody bought it, it wouldn't be in the store, would it? I also confess that I already buy the gingerbread hearts with confiture filling for my husband. Although unfortunately not in Migros, as the hearts are cheaper and better at the competition.

As I already wrote in the "News and updates" thread-
Yes, it's simply too early!
Mid-November is enough, 1-2 weeks before the 1st Advent!
But just like Moz79, I have already bought something: Elisen gingerbread.
However, just like the Lucerne gingerbread and the Magenbrot, these go down more
Autumn and Chilbi product, just like some gingerbread shapes with confectionery filling.
They are also sold at Christmas, but that's just the way it is.
It's too early for clear Christmas products such as Christmas decorations, corresponding chocolate, Chlaus gingerbread etc.!

Was in Aldi by chance, everything was full of Christmas stuff.
If only there were fireworks so much earlier on August 1st...

I think the beginning of November is good, but if one person puts up their Christmas stuff, the others have to follow suit, I rarely shop earlier on principle

Hello aurora borealis
Migros (and also others to stay objective) must sell the Christmas goods early in the fall so that - like last year - the Fasnachtschüechli can come into the stores BEFORE Christmas! Simply disgusting! I feel so sorry for today's children! We used to be able to look forward to something, but when the three king cakes are on the shelves even before the end of the year, you don't feel like it anymore until the right day. All traditions are sacrificed for pure profit. Once again: poor over-saturated children, and at least one extremely annoyed 50-year-old:-)
