Why is so much (everything?!) at Cucina & Tavola made from Schina?

Warum ist bei Cucina & Tavola so viel (alles?!) aus Schina?

Can someone explain this to me?

Migros relies on Swiss goods in every nook and cranny. And at a good price, too. Plus "from the region". That really is the right idea to counter shopping tourism.
If it's not Switzerland, at least it's Europe.

But in the Cucina & Tavola corner, most of the products are from the P.R.C.. I don't understand that.

Switzerland alone still has producers who would also produce under a label other than their own brand name if it were Migros' own brand.Victorinox knives are not only available with plastic handles and they don't only produce for their own brand "Victorinox" either. And for the price of the no-name variant from Cucina & Tavola, which didn't come off particularly well in comparison in Kassensturz, they certainly have something.
Or there are also more than enough German producers. Spain could also be interesting.

Ceramics, cutlery and so on don't have to take the long route from China to us. Europe has something on offer for each of these areas that is no more expensive than products from the P.R.C..

I think the best example is the Berühme peeler with a transverse blade. The original inventor and manufacturer is Zena AG in Switzerland, which still produces in Affoltern an der Albis today. That's 11 people. In addition to the standard "Rex" part, there are also other variants available. The company also produces for third parties who want to offer a peeler with "Swiss Made" (Victorinox, Kuhn Rikon, etc.). They produce 60% for export. So it's not up to the company.

Under the label Cucina & Tavola there is not one from this company. Everything is also from China. For CHF 6.95 a piece in different variations.

Now you could say: It's probably the price. Surely they cost more. Swiss wages and all that. But you can still find the "Rex" peeler in Migros: under "M-Budget peeler" for CHF 1.95 in Swiss quality. So it's probably not the price...

I've been watching this for years and now I wanted to ask if nobody in the Cucina & Tavola corner is really looking at what the Old World has to offer? It seems as if even the person responsible for M-Budget has put a lot more effort into the product selection...
