I've just checked the archives and found out that more than a year has passed since my last complaint on this subject. So there has been some improvement, but this week Migros took the cake again:
Both in the M magazine under the promotions and in the store itself, I found signs saying "Entire Migros organic range 20%", supplemented as usual by e.g. details, i.e. organic Cremant chocolate, for example.
After I had paid and checked the receipt again, I realized that I and Migros obviously have different opinions about what "total" means. Because some organic items were charged at the normal price: Milk, camembert, tofu and (once again) my beloved millet flakes which are a must in my daily morning yogurt.
I went to customer service to claim the 20% discount on the items in question, and the nice lady agreed that "entire organic range" meant "on all organic items", but she first had to get the store manager's OK. After what felt like an eternity, she came back and said she couldn't refund me the amount I had complained about. However, I could return the items that had been charged at full price. However, as I needed these items, I decided against it and left the store rather contrite. It was a matter of a few francs, so I wasn't going to be poor. But luring customers into the store with promises of promotions that don't even exist is just not on.
At least they apologized and assured me that they would soon replace the "incorrectly delivered signs" (store manager quote).
But what I can't get out of my head: am I actually the only customer who is bothered by this? It can't be that on the third day of an ongoing campaign period in the whole of Migros Aare (if not perhaps even in the whole of German-speaking Switzerland) a customer complains for the first time. But maybe I'm the last remaining member of the Homo sapiens species, the rest of humanity must have already shrunk too far into Homo smartphonicus...
