Twint now directly integrated into payment terminals

Over the last few weeks, some of you have seen the Twint QR code on our payment terminals. This pilot has been a success. You can now pay directly with the Twint app at the payment terminals in our Migros stores and Migros partners. Of course, Twint can still be used via the Migros app.

We have put together a few important questions and answers for you.

How and where can I pay with Twint at Migros?

Twint QR code via the payment terminal: That's new! At the checkout, either select cashless payment on the subito self-service system or tell the checkout staff. A QR code is now visible on the card terminal, which can be easily scanned with the Twint app. Depending on the amount, confirmation is still required in the Twint app.

Online stores: Twint is accepted online as a means of payment in the six Migros specialist stores (Melectronics, SportXX, Do it & Garden, Micasa, Bikeworld, Interio). Simply select Twint during the payment process. Here, too, payment is made via the QR code.

Migros app: You have been able to pay with Twint via the Migros app since 2018.

Why are we now using Twint at the payment terminal, even though the option is already available in the Migros app?

We are responding to various customer requests. Twint has become the payment method with the most transactions within the Migros app in just five months, and we want to give our customers payment options that are as easy to use and inexpensive as possible. Over one million people are registered with Twint throughout Switzerland and we want to give them the opportunity to use Twint easily with us. Of course, Twint can still be used via the Migros app.

And why doesn't Migros use the Twint beacon?

Instead of having to set up an additional device for Twint payments (a so-called "beacon") as before, all we need to do now is update the terminal software and configure the checkout and backend systems accordingly - and the payment terminals are ready for all Twint customers. This allows us to integrate Twint into the existing infrastructure at no additional cost to customers and, as we offer WLAN in the branches, we can offer the fast and secure QR code payment method everywhere. We therefore do not need to use beacon technology.

Can I store my Cumulus card in the Twint app?

At the moment it is not possible to store the Cumulus card, but we are currently looking into the feasibility of this.

What is Twint anyway?

Twint is digital cash, so to speak. You can download the app to your smartphone and pay when shopping, in restaurants, at vending machines and online. You can also easily send money back and forth between friends and family.
The Swiss solution is convenient and secure and over a million people in Switzerland already use it.

Does my bank offer Twint?

There are now so many banks participating in Twint that we can't list them all here. You can find all the information about the participating banks on the Twint website. And if your bank is not participating, there is the standard Twint app with prepaid function.

Just try it out the next time you go shopping, it's really quick and convenient.

We look forward to hearing your feedback. Have you already used Twint at Migros and what are your experiences with it?

Tested and works well...also to the statement: At the moment it is not possible to deposit the Cumulus card, but we are in the process of checking the feasibility....na yes, you don't have to check much, the COOP Supercard works too ;-)

@iOhOh2

Yes, the Coop Supercard and other customer cards can be integrated into Twimt.
However, this does not automatically mean that an integration of Cumulus is compatible with the Migros/Cumulus data protection guidelines (and others).

I agree about the integration of the Cumulus card and @Dominik_Migrossshould tell us which Twint issue then activated the Cumulus card. At that time, you could deposit the Coop card with UBS Twint - but not with Postfinance Twint at the very beginning. For online purchases, this should be done via the login. For security reasons, each bank has its own Twint app - which is not a bad thing - but makes everything look a bit cumbersome. This is primarily about debit accounts.... With credit cards, the matter is simple - UBS Twint accepts all credit cards and can then only be used for payments (unless you are a UBS customer) ... otherwise it would also be Twint Prepaid for incoming payments. Both (=paying and receiving money) is possible for customers with the corresponding Twint of UBS, CS, Neue Aargauer Bank, Postfinance, Raiffeisen and the cantonal banks of ZH, ZG, OW, AI, VD and GE and of course prepaid (provided there is enough credit on it when paying). I hope I have not misrepresented anything...

Hello everyone

Unfortunately, I can't tell you any more about the Cumulus integration. As I said, we are currently looking into it.

Unfortunately, I can't say much about your detailed questions about Twint, as our colleagues at Twint are the experts. They are active on almost all social media channels, you can certainly contact them there and otherwise using the form here:https://www.twint.ch/ueber-uns/#kontakt

Best regards

I find it even more cumbersome than before...

1. need the Migros app to scan the Cumulus code,
then
2. open the Bank/Twint app and initiate the payment / scan the code there

before everything was at least in the (same) Migros app

The only optimal way is how Coop does it:
So store Cumulus code in the bank/Twint app - only there everything works in a single scan.

Everything else is tinkering, not fully programmed, a lazy compromise...

@easthouse

The "before" is not gone. The option with the Twint code is for people who don't have the Migros app or don't want to use Twint there. But Twint is still linked to the Migros app and can therefore still be used.

I use Twint and would be very happy if I could deposit the Cumulus card directly there as soon as possible. Many thanks Paolo Furrer

I would also like to deposit the Cumulus in Twint

Is it possible that cumulus points are still not being added when paying with TWINT in the Migros app? Purchases made in this way do not appear in "receipts"... Let's move forward!

@wanidan But you scanned the Cumulus code first before paying?
