Tomaten

Hello Migros, can someone explain to me why tomatoes are now so expensive in the high season (almost double? They are now growing in all Swiss gardens! Nobody can tell me that Swiss tomatoes are more expensive than those that are carted into Switzerland from abroad all year round! Once again, it's more likely that the profit motive is behind this! What do consumers prefer to eat in summer? No, not soups and stews! I think it's a cheek! And what's more, the tomatoes on offer now taste like nothing, as they do all year round, but they look beautiful for days on end!

Hello sonnenblume_2, thank you for your contribution. I'm sorry that you don't like the taste of our tomatoes. I will be happy to clarify your concerns with the relevant specialist department - please let me know which Migros cooperative you shop at. Kind regards, Luisa

Mostly at Migros Effretikon. But that has nothing to do with the store, but rather with the shopping and the retailer! The Coop doesn't have the better ones and they're not cheaper either!

Denner, Aldi, Lidl and on the other side of the border you can get them cheaper. Kaufland is still offering vine tomatoes until tomorrow for -.88 cents, oh and you from Migros, yours currently cost 4.50 per kg today, so even more than last week, if you live at subsistence level or even below, you have to ask yourself X times can I still afford it!

And who is supposed to pay for that? I might be prepared to pay a little more here and there. But then I also expect tomatoes that taste like tomatoes!!!!

I agree, it would be easy for Migros and Co. to offer such tomatoes in summer that were grown in real nature and not in a greenhouse with rock wool or worse.

I noticed that too. In general this summer season: all vegetables seem more expensive to me (even worse in the Coop... :-(). So also for broccoli, romanesco, carrots... other years there were promotions from time to time and the prices were lower?

We customers have it in our hands where we shop, cucumbers are on promotion and can be had for 1.20, which is a good price for now, but they are rather soft when you touch them.
