Rice mix, popcorn...

Reismischung, Popcorn...

Hello Migros brothers and sisters

I have 1.2 ideas.

1. there's a rice mix from Uncle Ben's called Equilinia, but it's not available here in Switzerland. Have a look, it's really great and you can't find it in Switzerland unless you mix it yourself.

2. why is there nowhere to buy popcorn for the microwave that is as yellowish as in the movies and tastes like butter? That would be great!

Hello curseri

I am always pro-rice :-) Just please never use the stupid cooking bag.

At the movies they just pour melted butter over it, don't they? Can't you melt the butter in the microwave and then pour it over the popcorn? *has no idea, living without a microwave*

Greetings moz

The equilina is not in a cooking bag. it is a rice mixture with long grain, wild rice, red peas and many more varieties...

the butter and popcorn thing usually didn't come out so well at my house...

I would also love butter popcorn for the microwave! I always have to order it overpriced on the internet...

Hello everyone.

Thank you very much for your ideas! I don't know Equilina personally yet. But I have forwarded your request to the people who know. :)

I'm also happy to pass on your request for butter popcorn. As far as I know, they don't make popcorn in the microwave at the cinema, but maybe you can still get the taste and look somehow.

*enjoysequilina* :-)

I would also be in favor of introducing cinema popcorn. Recently you can buy Jolly Time Butter popcorn at Coop (Sihlcity) - pretty good but not like in the movies. As an absolute popcorn lover, I spent a long time trying to figure out how to make movie-flavored popcorn at home. I've already come very close. Ironically, cinema popcorn contains no butter at all. It is made from coconut oil and a special so-called "popcorn salt", which you can buy on the Internet. This salt is extremely fine, contains butter flavoring and is very yellow due to the riboflavin it contains, which gives the cinema popcorn its buttery color. I make the popcorn in the pan. It is very similar to cinema popcorn, but the salt is less well stirred in, as the pan logically does not have a stirrer like the machine in the cinema.

There would be room for a Migros own creation here. A good butter microwave popcorn. I would also suggest that you could offer the popcorn salt for sale in the snack department :)

I know a better idea! Why doesn't Migros simply introduce the coconut fat-salt-riboflavin mixture so that everyone can make their own movie popcorn?
A combination pack of corn kernels and special coconut fat would also be conceivable.

That way, even those who don't have a microwave can enjoy it. In addition, there is always too much oil/butter in microwave popcorn.

Why does it always have to be coconut oil? It's not good for the environment, as forests are being cleared and turned into monocultures.

Couldn't you ask the Swiss company MAYA if they make butter popcorn?

Hello Daniel

What about the Equilinia rice mixture?

Hi moz

I'm sure you've already guessed it: I'll have to ask about that too, because the request is a bit older ;-)

Thank you for your patience.
