I noticed that before the store closes, the expiring items are only offered at a 25% discount and no longer at half price. What is the aim behind this approach? And why is it that Migros employees select items for themselves and then put a 50% off sticker on them?

Migros Zurich (especially the Brunau branch) is really bad; although the items there are (still) 50% off, the employees "hoard" the products they want for themselves or other employees or their friends/family and don't even put them back in the rack so that Migros customers can buy them, but take them away for themselves (procedure always the same: several gray boxes stacked on top of each other on wheels; what the employees want for themselves disappears into the 2nd box, what is for the "stupid customers" goes into the 1st/top box, is reduced and put back in the rack; the products they want for themselves stay in the 2nd box and are put back in the 2nd box. The products they want for themselves stay in the second box and are rolled back into the warehouse after the work is done). I think it's a mess, to say the least! Above all, if you ask these employees about it, as a customer you are simply made to feel stupid, and strangely enough the boss (store manager) is never there...

Dear Infoline, I shop at several locations. Is this going to be an egg dance? Your answers are usually very general and always associated with a "marketing aspect", so I wonder why I should now list the different stores....

Here in Wil SG, the reduced items (especially in the meat/fish section) are only put on the shelves in the afternoon. They are kept back, as I once overheard between two employees. It didn't used to be like that, they were already available at 08:00. I don't think that's right, because you also want to be able to benefit in the morning and in the morning.

Honestly? I can understand the retailers (Coop is doing the same now) on this point, but from another point of view. I've often been in the stores just before closing time, especially on Saturdays, and people sometimes almost fight over the 50% meat or desserts... A few years ago I was in the Coop branch in Langenthal just before closing time, it was 24.12. (so panic, store closed for 2 days) and I was really worried about two employees. One of them had the thankless task of applying the 50% sticker to all the desserts and cakes. There were a good 20 (!!!) people standing around her in a cluster (like at a concert in the front row) and they tore everything she had labeled right out of her hand. I watched the whole thing from about 5 meters away and it sent shivers down my spine... One look at the meat shelf and it didn't look much better for the sales clerk there. It really can't be right if people only go shopping at this time of day to almost bash their heads in. I can understand if someone who doesn't have that much money at their disposal does it, but not in the way described above. If this change comes into force because of that, then I can definitely understand it very well.

It seems obvious to me that the staff should also benefit from the reduced items. You have to be an envious small-minded person not to begrudge the staff that. And the sales staff don't earn that much that you couldn't begrudge them.

Perhaps there are many who can no longer afford the normal prices? Corona has done a lot. There are many without a job and you have to pay for masks, desi etc. yourself. That's not "cheap"!
