Dear Migros
Today I read in the Schaffhauser Bock that the municipality of Marthalen is the first municipality to offer recycling for drinks cartons. The article also states that the major distributors - including Migros - are reluctant to jump on this bandwagon and offer recycling similar to pet bottles in their stores.
Our family is a major consumer of (milk) drinks cartons, and recycling would certainly reduce the burden on our bins and the environment, as the raw material could be reused in a sensible way.
What are the reasons for introducing it? Pet bottles are also taken back by retailers. Wouldn't at least a pilot phase to gather experience make sense? I can't imagine what would speak against it. When I look in the pallet containers at the Migros pet returns, there are already a lot of drinks cartons in there anyway...

I am a large consumer of Classic iced tea and would very much like to collect the cartons for recycling purposes and take them to Migros if that were possible. They always take up a lot of space in the bin bag. And as far as I know, you can't take them to the normal carton.

When I was still on the municipal council, we set up a fenced-in collection point with the neighboring municipality (total population 1100) where the following waste is taken back separately:
Aluminum and tin cans, car batteries, wood, bulky items (flammable), bulky items (e.g. beds, cupboards, plastic, basins, toys), construction waste (bricks, tiles, toilets, dishes, etc.), scrap iron (bicycles, scooters), vegetable oil, paper, cardboard, PET, tires, textiles, glass, electrical appliances, neon and fluorescent lamps, batteries and rechargeable batteries.
Unfortunately, there is still no sensible solution for tetra packs!

In my opinion, the recycling of plastic packaging should be promoted even more than the recycling of drinks cartons. This is probably far more complex due to the variety of materials, but the potential is immense. Other countries seem to have managed it, even with unsorted collection. I believe I read some time ago that Migros in particular had launched pilot projects in this regard, but today this no longer seems to be an issue.
Yes, it would be nice if Migros could be a pioneer here (and perhaps with plastic). That would also be a nice commitment for the M-Generation. Migros could just reuse the raw material for its own cardboard packaging in the industry. That would almost close the cycle.
Iced tea carton to normal carton: that is of course a mortal sin. Beverage cartons are made of cardboard, aluminum and plastic and cannot (yet) be recycled for this very reason. Especially not as part of the normal cardboard collection, from which brik packs must first be sorted out.

In Zollikofen BE, the Tetras are not taken away with the cardboard collection. They are left by the roadside. That's why I flatten them, collect them and then stick them together with wide adhesive tape so that they don't take up too much space in the bin bag.

I apologize for the late reply. The Lucerne Cooperative is currently running a pilot project and taking back plastic packaging, for example empty shower gel bottles. The trial has been positive so far, and we will be able to say more about this once the project has been completed.
