When Migros and other major distributors introduced the so-called "bag charge" a few months ago, I was very pleased because it was a first step in the right direction to prevent plastic waste and thus help protect the environment.
However, I am regularly offended by Migros' collection campaigns: How can it be that I should (rightly) have a guilty conscience for an unnecessary plastic bag and symbolically pay 5 centimes for it, for the figures of Migros-Mania, StoryMania etc. where a massive amount of plastic is wasted, have to convey the image to my children that the packaging is necessary...
I think Migros should take more responsibility here and rethink the concept of the collection campaigns (and mind you: I'm a die-hard Migros child and really like almost all the campaigns!!!).
Many thanks for your comments, likes and hopefully meaningful improvements!

I'm not a fan of this plastic mania either - a "soulless toy" just like the plastic toys you can buy "the day after" at a quarter price.... and usually don't even outlast 1 child...
I understand that "Mania" should not cost much.... but a cardboard puzzle (individual pieces in paper bags), or a memory game in the same way or even (as has already been done) a small book to stick pictures in would also satisfy the children's urge to collect and play...
Hello @fantiboby
Since the introduction of Mania's , there has been discussion about their plastic waste.
Plastic Mania
As an individual and non-collector, I ignore these campaigns and am bothered by other packaging such as blister packs. But that's another topic.

Hello Fantiboby, thank you for your post. We are very pleased that we can count you among the Migros children and are glad that our campaigns are going down well with you. We understand your concerns about plastic consumption. However, Migros tries to make its promotions as sustainable as possible. The promotional elements are intended for long-term use. The stories can be listened to several times, and the audio box and figures are also reusable. With the radio play figure Lulu, you can even record your own stories several times. The radio play figures are also suitable for playing without the audio box, not just for listening to radio plays. Overall, we believe that the plastic consumption of such a collection mania is within acceptable limits compared to the total plastic consumption in Switzerland. Incidentally, the bag fee has reduced the consumption of plastic bags by 80%. All proceeds from the sale of the bags go to external Migros environmental projects. Do you have any further questions? If so, we'll be happy to help you. Best regards, Jan
Dear Jan
Thank you very much for your answer. To stay on the subject of plastic waste: What about the individually wrapped organic vegetables...? Does everything really have to be wrapped in plastic....?
Thank you and lg
I recently bought a Chinese cabbage that was not organic and it was sealed in a plastic bag, why?

Hello everyone
Plastic is a complex issue. That's why we took a closer look at it in our new Generation M podcast. You can listen to it here, in 10-15 minutes everything on the topic is explained simply and clearly and then we can discuss it:https://generation-m.migros.ch/de/nachhaltig-leben/tipps-tools/chrut-und-ruebli.html

Hello everyone If you walk through Migros, you see plastic everywhere. What bothers me a lot: Why can't you just take 2 for 20% (mangoschnize)? Why do 2 plastic packages have to be wrapped in plastic again??? Nonsense. And then in the same breath they talk about recyclable bags and praise themselves. best regards

Hello Sone, thank you very much for your feedback. As you rightly write, there are promotions where two or more packs are repackaged or provided with a sleeve. At the same time, we also offer many promotions on individual products. In the past, we have often found that customers have only bought one unit in promotions of two or more and have therefore not been able to benefit from the discount. Kind regards, Richi

"In the past, we've often found that customers have only bought one unit during promotions of two or more and have therefore not been able to benefit from the discount." I'd say it's their own fault. Just because some people aren't properly informed, everything has to be shrink-wrapped in plastic? But I'm sure the answer was actually meant as follows: "In the past, we often found that customers only bought one unit when they bought two or more, which meant Migros made fewer sales." So once again: profit clearly comes before environmental protection.
Nice comment Stecki. Isn't it written everywhere on the signs on the rack or in the promo corners "from 2 pieces" that you can read over that?
@Bodenseeknusperli That can be overlooked - it just happened to me recently in the Coop. I saw the promotion, was really excited about the unexpected surprise and grabbed it. When I looked at the receipt afterwards, I was disappointed: no promotion. The next day I went back to the store to see if I had made a mistake. Yes, this product was already in a promotion, but I hadn't fulfilled the conditions because I hadn't read them out of sheer joy. However, this rarely happens to me. But it can happen and I can imagine that there are people who, unlike me, don't check what the problem was and instead complain to customer service - not exactly pleasant for the employees. That's why I have a certain amount of understanding for these multiple packs: It makes the actual action really clear to everyone.
