Why does Aldi manage to take back plastic and Migros doesn't? Hop hop Migros or I'll soon be at Aldi.

Plastic recycling at Aldi? Never heard of it, but Migros has. Take a look here: https://generation-m.migros.ch/de/nachhaltig-leben/plastik-recycling.html?gclid=EAIaIQobChMIjv7u-rbo6wIVhLh3Ch3AugSqEAAYASAAEgLMQ_D_BwE
Hello miplastic Thank you for your question. We are not yet able to say anything about the extent of the delay to our recycling project. The recycling project is very important to Migros and we are doing everything we can to ensure that this important offer for sustainability and environmental protection can start as soon as possible. We will inform you as soon as we are ready. Thank you for your patience. Best regards Kathrin

Thanks Nachtspalter, just because you haven't heard of it doesn't mean it doesn't exist. In contrast to Migros' approach, the offer is free of charge. In principle, I don't mind having to pay. However, a free/recycling cost preference would provide an incentive for producers and wholesalers to handle packaging even more carefully.

@mrplastic I didn't say that I doubt the existence of plastic recycling at Aldi. However, I'm apparently too stupid to find anything about it. Do you have a link?

A good point. I can't find anything about it online, but there is a slot for plastic and film / packaging at the exit. I don't know what happens to it. It would of course be important that it is not simply shipped to China and buried or ends up in the waste incineration plant. So I'm curious to see what Migros will come up with.

Okay, thanks. I'll see if "my" two Aldis have it too. I still think it's a shame that Aldi has abolished the TetraPak collection. It was so great.
Aldi offers the option of disposing of packaging on site as a service, but the material collected in this way ends up in the waste incineration plant. Only plastic bottles are recycled separately, just like at Migros. https://www.aldi-suisse.ch/de/infos/fragen-antworten/r/recycling/

Refilling instead of plastic would be the magic word for the future. Filling stations and no more plastic. For the sake of the environment and health. I hope this is implemented as soon as possible. There's still so much plastic in Migros. This has nothing to do with sustainability and annoys all consumers!

Hello Rapunzel1978 Thank you for your comment, in which you share a few of your wishes with us. You've obviously missed the fact that they're already a reality, even if they're still only regional.... You can find out all about the various sustainability topics at Migros on Generation M. We reported on our pilot project with refill stations: https://generation-m.migros.ch/de/nachhaltige-migros/aktuelles/news-template/news/nachhaltigkeit/2020/spuelmittel-selber-abfuellen.html The topic of plastic recycling is also slowly but surely taking shape and is expected to be offered throughout Switzerland next year. https://generation-m.migros.ch/de/nachhaltig-leben/plastik-recycling.html I'm delighted that more and more of our customers are joining us in our commitment to greater sustainability! Kind regards Kathrin
