I think it's unfair that people who live alone have to buy a whole loaf of bread, for example, and throw half of it away. A family pays the same price and has no waste. I think you could also bake the delicious loaves in smaller versions and offer them at lower prices. This also applies to many other products.
I live alone and many loaves are too small for me! The loaves have become smaller than they used to be. They are often too small for me, but the price is high. So you have to buy two, which is even more expensive............. And throw them away - there are so many ways to use bread. Just buy the rolls.
Pardon, but it always shocks me how people THROW AWAY food instead of reusing it. Stale bread? -Bake it in the oven with water -Roast it in a frying pan as bruschetta -Spread it with egg and cheese mixture to make cheese slices -Fötzelschnitte, the sweet version -Fry bird's hay with egg and apple sugar in a frying pan -Cubes to make croutons -Bread soup -Various bread desserts from the oven, e.g. from diced bread, sugar, egg, milk, grapes, cinnamon, a kind of casserole.b from diced bread, sugar, egg, milk, grapes, cinnamon, a kind of casserole -breadcrumbs ...Ectectect... Hundreds of recipes Why do you throw it away if you are too comfortable to make something out of it? Above all, the recipes with fresh bread are not so tasty, so ideal. Or freeze half and take out when needed. But yes: smaller loaves would be something. It has to be. So many people throw the bread away because they can't make something out of it.

I really hope you're not serious and that you're throwing away half a loaf just because Migros is apparently forcing you to buy a large loaf! Why don't you just eat as much bread as you like and freeze the rest in slices? I can't believe it.....and yes, there are also small rolls, aren't there?

So I do it like @rollimaus - off to the freezer. I know that not all bread is equally suitable - but if you live in eastern Switzerland, the round, dark St. Gallen bread is perfect for this: I buy a pound loaf, cut it in half and put one part in the freezer, then use the other with the cut side down and make nice slices as required, fresh after defrosting even after 2 days.... Bread with small and medium-sized air holes is particularly suitable, i.e. bread that is not too compact.

It's not just about bread. You have to buy the organic bananas from Migros in a bunch. There are usually 5 or more bananas together. 4 bananas are an absolute rarity. At Coop, I can buy each organic banana individually!

I don't live alone, nor do I throw it away! Calm down. I just wanted to get rid of it because I see how others do it. I wrote a 30-page documentary about waste reduction so I did a lot of surveys etc. Most people just throw it away because they don't feel like eating the old stuff. I noticed that the small loaves in Migros are less delicate than the larger ones. That's why I thought that you could make the good loaves smaller and lower the prices.

i'm on the road all day. the small rolls aren't so fresh in the evening. and as i said earlier, i only mentioned the topic because of my surveys, not because i live like that myself. I'm a student, I'm hardly ever alone^^

It's not about me. It's about the fact that people who live alone are often at a disadvantage because of the quantities and prices, as I found out in my surveys on waste reduction.
