The idea is excellent, but I wonder why this system is only being tested in German-speaking Switzerland? I think that consumer habits are different in different linguistic regions and I find it hard to understand why the French-speaking part of Switzerland is not taking part in the test?
Do you have the option of displaying the composition of the product chosen by the customer on your system's screen? For example, gluten for people allergic to gluten.
Pharmacies have a program for checking the incompatibilities of drugs dispensed to their customers. Good day to you soon Robert

Hi gregmin
Sorry for the late reply! As the project is run by four cooperatives in German-speaking Switzerland, the test is carried out in these regions, so there are no test stores in French-speaking Switzerland. However, we are constantly exchanging experiences with the French-speaking part of Switzerland.

The system has arrived in Sion (VS), and I love it! Either technique is brilliant! It saves an enormous amount of time. Only doubt.....don't you fear that people will cheat? I'm looking forward to the day when we'll even be able to pay in cash, like in England, for example. Bravo for the evolution!

Nobody talks about the future rise in unemployment among cashiers and the totally associal side of things?

Yes, I think the question has already been asked, and so far there's no correlation between self-scanning and cashier unemployment. Have you ever tried it? There are sales assistants who help and guide customers, and there's also contact between customers who scan nearby.
