In the new Migros - Kreuzplatz and Stettbach, for example - shopping is a pain! There's far too much space between the shelves, so the distances are longer. Particularly annoying is Stettbach, where the large store has a modest range that is only slightly larger than that of the Mini-coop at the streetcar stops, yet there are many new apartments in the immediate vicinity. For real shopping, they still have to go to the center.
The Migros Kreuzplatz has a nice new and "airy" design, it has plenty of space (especially now in Corona times and keeping your distance and avoiding each other and so on), I'm not complaining about that either. But what I find annoying is that the Migros range is spread over 2 floors (the Alnatura store is on the ground floor), which is totally illogical in my opinion. There are food and non-food goods on both the 1st and 2nd floors. I think it would be much better if the goods were distributed, for example, with food on the 1st floor and non-food on the 2nd floor (or vice versa), then at least you know where you have to go and don't have to keep going up and down the escalator because you've forgotten something that's on the 1st or 2nd floor, even though you were looking for it on the other floor... Migros Stettbach is indeed a bit disappointing. To be honest, I thought it would be bigger and have a much larger range than it does now. But maybe it's just a test phase at the moment because it's only just opened and things will improve over time? That's the case, but it's true of quite a few M or MM stores. If you want everything in a Migros store, you have to go to an MMM store.

Hi Angela, I always like shopping at Migros. I simply prefer some branches to others. My favorite is the Migros at Stadelhofen and, if I have to go there, the giant Migros in Thalwil. I like it when the shelves are close together so that, in theory at least, you can grab one thing with your left hand and another with your right and put it in the basket.

We're quite different in this respect: I don't like narrow aisles/racks and stores where people stand on each other's feet and you're constantly bumped into, etc. Especially not since Corona last year. The more space the better ;-)

For example, the frozen food range can be relatively small, but you can get clothes and shoes.

You're absolutely right, M/MM/MMM doesn't really say anything about the product range. I just wanted to say that Kreuzplatz and Stettbach station are Migros MM branches, here in ZH there are MMM branches that have an even bigger range and you might find what you're looking for there. You just have to go to these stores and see if you can get everything on your shopping list there.

No, fortunately in most cases you no longer have to go and look since the availability query has been available for items (not including unstocked items and out-of-stocks). And if you use this practical tool regularly, you'll be amazed at how many items you can find in smaller stores that aren't available in some larger ones. I used to run from store to store in vain when I needed something very specific. Fortunately, those days are over. At least that's one point for which Migros deserves some praise ;) The misleading categorization M / MM / MMM, on the other hand, could be abolished. Instead, a somewhat more detailed description of which product range is carried would be helpful in the store query, for example with a star rating for different product ranges (i.e. in addition to indicating whether there is a staffed meat counter or in-house bakery).

A little tip, generally speaking, book SBB tickets online. If you get economy tickets, you can travel from Lake Constance to Basel for less than 20 without a half-fare, simply plan and book a week in advance :)
