I eat lunch at an M restaurant almost every day. Today I went back to Oerlikon for the first time in a long time and left so annoyed that I will certainly never go there again! The reason: at the entrance to the restaurant, as everywhere else, the certificate is checked. I did, no problem. Afterwards, I removed my mask as quickly as possible as usual. At the checkout, they then asked me to put the mask on. I did this reluctantly, finished my meal quickly and listlessly with a spoiled appetite and then spoke to the woman doing the admission control about the problem. It turned out that she is the boss herself and interprets the rules more pontifically than Pope Berset - but wrongly! Vaccinated people are allowed to move freely inside restaurants!!! Those who are not 3G but need to go from the terrace to the toilet, for example, are forced to wear a mask. (What I think of this in general is beside the point.) The fact is that, for reasons of mental health and common sense, I can no longer stand to have more illogic imposed on me than is unavoidable. The questionable legal rules that exist are enough. I don't want to be forced by an overzealous, proselytizing mask believer to wear the mask where I don't have to by law. I have never experienced such mistreatment in any other restaurant, not even in any of the five or six other M restaurants where I regularly and happily go. I expect a statement from the highest possible authority. So that we as customers know what Migros is doing. I don't want to start a discussion about Covid and the Covid measures. My only concern here is that the rules, whether we like them or not, should not be implemented arbitrarily from M-Rest. to M-Rest. differently. Merci!

You may think and say what you like about this practice. However, it is not illegal, but at most stricter than the law. Although the law no longer stipulates a mask requirement for restaurants, it does not prohibit the operator from requiring the mask to be worn anyway. In any case, guests of self-service restaurants must wear a mask if they wish to consume the selected dishes on the terrace without a certificate. This in turn forces the staff inside to ask whether the guest will be eating inside or on the terrace. This may be the background to what at first glance appears to be an illogical regulation in the establishment in question. Migros Ostschweiz, for example, does not make masks compulsory in the indoor areas of its restaurants https://www.migros.ch/de/genossenschaften/migros-ostschweiz/gastronomie/schutzmassnahmen.html However, the Migros Cooperative Zurich appears to have one https://www.migros.ch/de/genossenschaften/migros-zuerich/standorte/gastronomie/sicherheitsmassnahmen.html This means that it is clearly not the boss who interprets the rules, but her Migros Cooperative that sets them.

The following rule has applied in the Migros Cooperative Zurich since 13 September: Masks are compulsory indoors. For the safety of our customers and employees, we continue to adhere to the mask requirement in the free-flow area of the restaurant. The mask may only be removed at the table. Well, you're right of course, it's probably not against the law. But it annoys me immensely when already very inconsistent official regulations are now also different from Migros to Migros. Sure, every landlord is allowed to set house rules and issue bans. But it's hardly sensible or clever of Migros (Oerlikon? MGZ?) to demand a mask as well as a certificate. How can you not go crazy? Why make 3G compulsory if a mask is still compulsory? What's coming tomorrow? Only with a vaccination, mask and umbrella? I'll take my chances and, as a vaccinated person, I'll also take off my mask in the MGZ restaurants. If I'm then banned from the premises, it'll be just fine, because I don't want to go into madhouses. So, dear MGZ, please think about whether it's not too much of a good thing.

And EXACTLY this kind of behavior is just stupid! Sorry for the choice of words, but that's the way it is. Do you have the feeling that the employees in this restaurant enjoy working like this? Do you get the feeling they're just doing it to harass you? Surprise, you're not that important, and I'm sure the employees also enjoy telling everyone "Please put your mask on" What do you get out of this game? If you let something like that spoil your appetite, then I would really eat at home.

It's stupid to ask people to get vaccinated if they still have to put on the mask even when they are surrounded by other 3G-tested people!
Just to clarify, the tearing up is because you were asked to put the mask on again for a short time and your appetite was gone immediately. And you feel badly mistreated because you were asked to put on a piece of fabric for a short time. Am I reading that right?

And yes, I do get the impression from some employees and officials that they are only too happy to play policeman and world savior. But I would love to hear a valid explanation as to why the MGZ thinks it has to demand a mask! Is there a new, very nasty virus variant that is only in the MGZ area and spreads from vaccinated people to vaccinated or 3G-tested people?

Yes, it's about the issue of compulsory masks! Do you want to cancel all opinions that you don't like? Instead, how about an explanation/justification of the purpose and benefits of this compulsory measure by the MGZ?
