Espresso Budget from the range

Espresso Budget aus dem Sortiment

I was surprised several weeks ago when the shelf for the budget espresso coffee, 1 kg for Fr. 4.50, was empty. I didn't read any information that this coffee was being taken out of the range and always bought 3-4 kg. Next week it will be available again with new packaging. Today's 3rd inquiry has revealed that there is a new MClassic Espresso D'oro in the range for Fr. 4.20 a pound! So almost twice as expensive per kilo and more acidic than the previous Espresso Budget. If you switch to the Espresso Classico, it costs Fr. 14.80 per kg, which is three times more.
Too bad, dear Migros. I'm prepared to pay more, but not 100% or more! I'm slowly buying more and more from other suppliers, even though I've always been a Migros child and I question whether Migros really belongs to the people.

I completely agree with you. I feel the same way.

Hello @spinni2004

Thank you for your post.

The M-Classic Espresso Oro is not the replacement item for the M-Budget Espresso Beans 1 kg (item 1071.183).

As an alternative, which is similar in taste, we can recommend the Boncampo Intenso beans 500 g (article 1071.939). Similar in price is the item M-Budget beans 1 kg with the article number 1071.184.

Kind regards,

Angela

Dear Angela
Thank you for your reply. As a replacement, the coffee should not only be an alternative in terms of price, but also in terms of taste. Unfortunately, the only option for me is the Espresso Classico i (3x more expensive), because the Espresso Budget was mega good in the roast and above all had little acidity, which I prefer. A ??product and cannot be compared with the other Budget.
Kind regards

Seems to be another super/popular product that has been taken out of the range to promote a "worse" alternative/new product... ?

@spinni2004

You're absolutely right, a substitute product should not only be an alternative in terms of price, but also in terms of taste. Unfortunately, this is not the case with many such alternatives... The Espresso Budget was indeed really good, I even found it to be one of the best, and in terms of taste, only the unfortunately 3x more expensive Espresso Classico comes closest. It's a real shame that there's no "suitable" replacement...

A real shame. After the budget grill butter (which was of very good quality and also very digestible), now the budget espresso is being discontinued without any real alternative. Migros is reorganizing itself at the expense of its customers instead of coming up with new ideas. But this pusillanimous strategy will not work... . Sorry Migros, it had to be said. The new management is also making itself scarce in the media.

I also think it's a shame that Migros has gone down this path... It's really very unfortunate that many products that I loved are no longer available and that there are no or no really good alternatives. I have drawn the consequences for myself and am buying less and less from Migros, to my great regret, I used to be a real Migros kid... But the competition never sleeps...

I have the feeling that the management is only looking out for itself, they haven't cared about the customers for a long time. Or rather, as long as they haven't driven all their customers away and the figures are still more or less right for management, they certainly won't change this strategy.

I can understand that products are customized, and I would also be prepared to pay a little more for the same quality. But the price of the alternative on offer is not right for me.

I agree with you.

@spinni2004

Have a look at the competition (Coop, Lidl, Aldi etc.). Try a few of their products, they may have a good alternative.
