Dried beans

Dörrbohnen

Unfortunately, I had to buy dried beans from China again. I was told that the local organic beans are out of the range. I think that we grow beans in Switzerland too, so we don't need to import any from China. I bought them for the last time. I'll start looking elsewhere. It's a shame that you can still buy such nonsense today.

Hello @Retina, thank you for your inquiry and your patience. We also offer Swiss dried beans in our range (item number 1050.005, organic dried beans). There is a company in Switzerland that specializes in drying green beans and produces the quantity needed to supply all Migros stores. However, this company does not supply the quantity for the whole year and the Swiss dried beans are therefore only available in autumn. The rest of the time, we obtain this item from China - that is correct. The Chinese beans are transported by ship and then by truck. We have the opportunity to purchase dried beans of very good quality in China and can therefore offer our customers the best value for money for this product too. Best regards, Heidi

Hello As I said, I received the answer that the beans from Switzerland are out of stock. Since I wanted to buy the beans about a week ago, it was autumn, which according to your explanations would be the time when Swiss beans should be available. Is it due to the training of the staff? Or why couldn't I buy any in Rapperswil SG? For me, good quality from China is not really a substitute for the Swiss product. Greetings Retina

@Retina Just because M-Infoline writes that dried beans from Switzerland will be available again in the fall doesn't mean that it will start right at the beginning of fall (September 23). Autumn lasts three months, so there's still a bit to come!

@Nachtspalter Beans can be harvested for many weeks, I have 15kg in the freezer for the winter and have eaten a good 5kg, as I said other stores have Swiss dried beans, just don't be fobbed off ?

There are 2 varieties of Swiss beans: organic beans and the Adr beans in the vegetable section...

We wrote to Migros years ago on the subject and unfortunately nothing has changed since then :-(. It can also be dried beans from Europe. Nowadays, China is no longer an option. The long transports make no sense. Even the fact that they are cheaper should not prevent us consumers from buying European ones. Well, I found some in a good organic store. They are a bit more expensive, but after all, we don't eat them every day, do we ;-)? It would be nice if Migros would finally start looking for European dried beans.

Maybe so. But if you've ever had your own garden, you know that the bumpers have long since been harvested. And then I have to say that I've been eating dried beans with game since I was a child.....

Dried beans are meant here @Eenergy

Bodenseeknusperli: I know, and that's why I wrote: there are adr beans and organic beans from Switzerland (Migros Aare)

Hello Retina, we would also like to offer dried beans from Switzerland. However, the quality of these must also be convincing for us to include them in our range. The final quality checks are currently underway for the coming season and we are confident that we will be able to offer dried beans from Switzerland again from week 43. Kind regards, Heidi

There are Swiss dried beans in Coop!

You don't have to buy dried beans from China, do you? Nobody is forcing you to, are they? I firmly believe that Migros would take Chinese beans out of its range if nobody bought them any more. I'd rather do without them than have to eat food from China.
