For about 4 weeks now, my carrots (whether "normal" or organic) have been going bad in the fridge after 2-3 days! They become lame and get black spots. I never had that before. My fridge is as good as new (replaced a few months ago) and set to the optimum temperature. So that shouldn't be the problem. I've tried a few things to store the carrots (vegetable compartment, top, bottom, on their side, wrapped etc.), but nothing helps. Do any of you also have this problem?

The same thing every year: first come the best Italian and Spanish early carrots, sweet and highly aromatic mmh! And then comes the new Swiss harvest: bitter, bland, and often black after a few days :-(. Whether conventional or organic, Coop or Migros. What is going wrong in Switzerland? Please pass this on to the Swiss vegetable suppliers.

maybe it will help you too, just pour a little water into a glass and put the carrots in it, by the way, you don't store carrots in the fridge ;-)

So you don't know how to really store them! I still know the tricks from the old days. Ask the grown-ups. So if you really want them to overwinter, for example, you do it very differently.
And vegetables in the vegetable drawer in the fridge, if they go moldy after 1-2 days, or in a well-tempered storage cellar, without foil (with foil they go moldy immediately!) yes, if they turn black quickly, that's just strange!
I tried not storing the carrots in the fridge, they turned black even faster and started to rot after less than three days. Were M budget. So for me, only the fridge in the vegetable drawer. And currently only fresh carrots from the market. All the others don't taste good either.
Yes, the budget for me too. If you buy very quickly, you can't consume it any other way.
Somehow the taste is getting worse and worse anyway. I bought some CH cherries from a stall. They look great, but the taste is... zero sweetness. No, they were sweet cherries, not sour cherries.
Carrots used to be different. But they taste better in phases. It's not harvest time here now.
The other carrots also went bad quickly, but Budget went extremely quickly.
I don't know what number date I'm looking for now. I'm just avoiding them at the moment.
For me, Migros Bio, Naturaplan, open a.d.R., open Coop were no better. The best were the Ünique or bunched carrots. I also agree about cherries, this year they were far too light red. Only Buuregarte Hühnenberg currently has good standard cherries.
