The Migros Aare Cooperative is now the only cooperative to have offered such a regular bonus points day. Last January, Migros Ostschweiz abolished the double Thursday after twelve years.
In my opinion, Aare is one of the most generous cooperatives: Nowhere else do I observe so many additional 5x points days for the entire economic area or other discount coupons as here.
The abolition could also be related to the advantage coupons (20x / 40x) introduced throughout Switzerland, which are spit out by the cash register.

seems a little confusing, because the 1:1 at Migros is not additional points, but only the purchases outside Migros... you get your "own" points with a "normal" card, or barcode....
Strictly calculated for a customer who shops at Migros and Coop: Pay at Migros with Supercard -KK and at Coop with Cumulus-KK (I think Coop has the same strategy with the "external purchases"...

I think "taking the piss" is a bit strong. The double Thursday could have been abolished without replacement, just as the Eastern Swiss did last year. But with the 4x voucher once a month, customers in Aar still have a small substitute - even if it seems puny and complicated. And who knows, maybe they'll reconsider and bring back the double Thursday in 2019. After all, they say that customers will be offered more birthday surprises in the anniversary year, in which case the weekly double day might be a bit too much of a good thing...?
I just find the way this is being "sold" outrageous...you'd think customers can't put 1+1 together (or 4x2 = 4 ???). I would be less angry if it had been communicated honestly. I know that this kind of "bullshit" is also practiced in other chains, but that doesn't make it any better. A little respect for the customer's mind...

Okay, that's right: the wording "The quadruple coupon replaces the double Thursday" is actually very poorly chosen because it can suggest that the result will be the same. Migros Aare should take a stand on this.
I am pleasantly surprised that nobody has said "thank you" for this further marketing stunt.
I wonder what's next? Oh well, we get to play wheel of fortune with our receipts for the next 4 weeks. Well then, everyone happy and satisfied again...

The Wheel of Fortune game is at least better than the version from a few months ago, when it was all about whether the barcode was a winning number or not. The Wheel of Fortune at least has a visible draw.
No, it's anything but inappropriate, because the marketing trick is exactly the same: make people believe that if they receive a gift (in the form of discounts, prizes, vouchers, anniversary promotions, etc.), then they will say thank you. Even though they only get back what they have already paid for through the permanently inflated prices. With the 10-franc voucher, the joke caught on because apparently most people were able to benefit from it and only a few (like the party pooper Federwolke) questioned it. Now, with the discontinuation of Double Thursday, a much larger target group is apparently being hit, and the **bleep**storm is already starting. I could shout now: Mimimi, motz, motz, motz, ICH, ICH, ICH, they're all egoists who don't begrudge those who previously had no time to shop on Thursday and now benefit from the freer choice of day of use for the 4-fold voucher. And I don't even want to know how many people will split their weekly Migros shopping into several small purchases over the next four weeks in order to multiply their chances of winning with several receipts. The Migros army of marketing experts, paid for by all of us, are masters of bread and circuses. In the digital age, the people are no further ahead than they were in ancient times...
