Cumulus Mastercard Google Pay

Cumulus-Mastercard Google Pay

When will Google Pay be available as a mobile payment solution for the Cumulus Mastercard? Google Pay is more manufacturer-independent than all other mobile payment solutions currently on offer, such as Samsung, Fitbit, Garmin, etc. I am of course aware that the possibility is primarily dependent on Cembra as a bank, but even multiple inquiries via the laborious contact form from Cembra have not received an answer. Migros may be able to do a bit more here and discuss the possibility with the bank. For your information: The topic of Apple Pay & Samsung Pay was already discussed 3 years ago and these two solutions are now available as options: https://migipedia.migros.ch/de/forum/cumulus-kreditkarten-fuer-applepay-andamp-samsungpay

I would also be very interested. It can't be that GP has been unavailable for years and is the only medium still available!!!!

One aspect not mentioned here is that Google does not ask credit card issuers and payment service providers to pay for the use of Google Pay, but is "content" with the payment transaction data. Apple, on the other hand, charges the card providers a steep fee for transactions processed via Apple Pay. This is a dictate to which Cembra appears to be willingly submitting. The financial blog finews.ch has an informative article on this topic entitled "What Apple Pay costs the Swiss banks".

Google Pay works with the Supercard CC from the Coop, which is why I switched. I only need the Cumulus in the Coop....

The Manor World Mastercard from Viseca also supports Google Pay. Only Cembra still stands apart among the issuers of credit cards without an annual fee.

it would be very good to get some feedback. nothing? It's really strange that Cembra doesn't even try this. but my CSX card won't allow it either. Very strange, but I think all Swiss people have Apple....

... or Samsung! Samsung Pay works EXCELLENT in combination with Cembra - including the Cumulus barcode (Bixby Routines = brightness 100%)

No, more people have Android phones than iPhones. And the trend is still rising for Android. https://de.statista.com/statistik/daten/studie/326584/umfrage/marktanteile-von-smartphone-betriebssystemen-in-der-schweiz/#:~:text=Im%20Jahr%202020%20betrug%20der,bei%20rund%201%2C5%20Prozent.

The collaboration between Migros and Cembra will soon be history. It's good that Migros has (finally) parted ways with this credit card issuer with a lack of customer focus. According to media reports, Migros intends to have the Cumus credit card issued by its own bank from July 2022. Fortunately, Migros Bank credit cards are included in the list of banks participating in Google Pay. We can only hope that Migros customers will also be able to benefit from this with the new Cumulus credit card.

That's right - in 5 months, the transfer from Cembra to Migros Bank will take place. This raises the general question for everyone as to whether they should cancel their existing Cembra credit card at the next opportunity and then join as a new customer in the middle of the year. It's old wisdom in the entire advertising industry: only new customers count as true customers and receive entry gifts, e.g. in the form of 3000 Cumulus points...
