Dear Migros, you soon won't know what to do with the money, so I thought to myself, why doesn't Migros invest in affordable housing? The housing shortage (of really affordable apartments) is huge. Many people have to pay horrendous rents. Couldn't you build apartments? Preferably buildings with minergie standards, photovoltaics, e-charging stations, etc. And the most important thing: really AFFORDABLE.
Exactly! Good idea! Please build at least one large-scale M-Budget residential development in every city.

Apartments are not a new field of activity for Migros. It already has various housing estates, at least two of which are in Zurich-Höngg. These estates are mostly managed by the Migros pension fund MPK.

Another field of activity? The Migros Group owns real estate worth billions of francs (over 13,000 apartments as of 2020). There are only around 50 real estate owners in the world with an even larger portfolio.
