The confusion caused by the different types of promotions can lead to annoyance when shopping at Migros. Take the example of the M-Classic hamburger bulk pack 8x90g promotion. Last year, this offer was run several times at a 50% price reduction. During my bulk purchase in January, I found this product again at the point of sale with a 50% reduction and a price of CHF 6.50 instead of CHF 12.95. Out of habit from previous promotions, I bought a pack of this offer. At home, however, I noticed that I was being charged the full price of CHF 12.95. I therefore enquired about this offer in the Migros magazine promotional flyer. Here the offer is also advertised with a large 50% discount and a small price of CHF 6.50 instead of CHF 12.95 from 2 pieces. What I overlooked, both at the point of sale and in the advertising, is the indication of 2 pieces or more. Because of this advertisement, I would actually have been entitled to 2 packs. In the past, the cashier at the checkout would draw attention to the offer in such situations. The right thing to do in advertising would be to show at least 2 packs and to offer CHF 12.95 instead of CHF 25.90 for 2 packs or CHF 6.50 instead of CHF 12.95 for 2 or more packs. I'm sure I'm not the only customer who only bought 1 pack with this offer. If you look through the offers in the week 2 promotional flyer in detail, the customer is overwhelmed by all kinds of promotions. 2+1, from 2 pieces, from 3 pieces, 4-pack, 6-pack, 20x Cumulus, etc. So shopping at Migros is no longer fun, because you never know whether you'll be ripped off by a promotion.
