Hello dear Migros team,
I have noticed that my beloved 50% discount fruit/vegetable basket has disappeared from the Migros Gelterkinden branch. Is it coming back or has it been abolished for good?
I hope not, because I often came to Migros just for this basket.

But I think it's cheeky to call this basket a "dirty corner", as the goods were still very suitable for consumption!
(e.g.: Bananas - they are only really ripe and sweet when they get brownish spots... You can buy them green to light yellow, i.e. by no means ripe. In this basket were the good bananas with real banana flavor, just ripe!)
This was a good opportunity to bring older fruit/vegetables to the customer!

I didn't even know that there was such a 50% vegetable/fruit basket in Migros - thanks for the info @Corini & Co. I buy salads that have reached their expiration date. In my Migros they are then available for 50%. Rarely do I also get a 50% vegetable, but Migros only reduces salads in packaging before! Expiration date. Recently it was a pack of organic fennel - it was still in perfect condition and I was even able to enjoy it a few days after the expiration date! Only a fraction of people who live at or below the subsistence level can benefit from offers such as "Tischlein deck dich" or similar. I think it would be great if Migros were to sell more "not-so-fresh" vegetables (including those without packaging and even those that are past their expiration date) for 50% as part of its sustainability and M-Generation promises.
Dear Migros: Please introduce 50% vegetable baskets everywhere (again?)!

The FDHA ordinance 817.022.21 on the labeling and advertising of foodstuffs (LKV) states in:
"Section 6:
Best before and use by dates (dating)
Art. 11 Definitions
1 The best-before date is the date until which a foodstuff retains its specific properties under appropriate storage conditions.
2 The use-by date is the date by which a foodstuff must be consumed. After this date, the food may no longer be sold as such to consumers."
In the 1970s, we sometimes had an unintended salad or fruit on our plates in the WKs because the forager, who was a vegetable buyer in civilian life, got hold of unsold "green food".

@Istanbul: Thanks, I could have guessed that the food regulation was behind it. It never ceases to amaze me what you know - thank you :-).
It's just too bad what ends up in the bin. I've also read that the proportion that stores like Migros throw away is supposedly still rather small. Most of the vegetables end up in the bin beforehand because they don't meet any standard norms... Somewhere I even read about 80% waste! Then there is the proportion that we as consumers throw away ourselves. Have any of you seen the movie "Taste the Waste"?
